[Leica M] I recently decided to go back to using a digital Leica (M-262) as my primary camera. I was able to afford the purchase by selling my FujiFilm digital kit. To be honest, my cameras were several years old and getting a little long in the tooth. I figured I should sell them before they were worth pennies. I still own a Leica M6 35mm film camera and the most amazing FujiFilm X-100F digital camera. I already own two Leica lenses, a 1970 50mm f2 Summicron and a 90mm 2.4 Summarit. I felt the need for a faster lens. I already owned the Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 Nokton Classic which has great image and build quality so I eagerly awaited the release of the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm 1.2. This lens was anticipated to be an amazing alternative to the very expensive Leica 50mm lenses. I purchased my lens from B&H Photo in New York. I have always had good luck purchasing from them as they are very trustworthy and reputable. My Lens arrived new and amazingly well constructed as I expected. I do wish the lens came with the matching hood and maybe a dust pouch or bag. It just came in standard protective box and packaging (yawn). I think they are missing the mark by not adding some updated presentation packaging. I have found the lens to be very sharp and has a very nice Bokeh. Any lack of sharpness has been caused by being out of practice with the manual focus rangefinder, my eyes starting to age, astigmatism in my dominant eye and my now use of the dreaded spectacles. I am amazed at the image quality and construction of the Voigtlander. I have owned many 50mm lenses from different manufacturers to include the Canon 50mm L 1.2 and I have to say that this little guy (Voigtlander) takes the cake. It has amazing character to it. [0.415 lb] Works great with a Go pro, on the ground for people, dogs, bears or other animals running by. Attaches to branches steel poles or other similar objects. I am surprised that this is not next to Go pros in stores. If I was only going to buy one accessory for a Go pro it would be the Ultra-pod Need to buy the inexpensive Go-pro tripod mount. I have had an ultra-pod for over 30 years. I used to use it for backpacking with a 35mm camera which worked ok if there was a stump, log or boulder handy. But if you are after good images with a 35mm camera you would be better off with a larger sturdier tripod especially if you are looking for soft water or low light images. 5 |

[Multi Coated] Does what it says, I use it on my Fujifilm XT2 with Fujifilm 35mm F2. Had to buy a step up ring but works perfect. I bought this with rewards points that I got from BH for buying the XT2 from them. Great camera, great lens, great company. It gave an old man another reason to get out and take photos. 5 |

[Manual Focus] I bought the Voigtlander Nokton 23mm f/1.2 to use on my Fujifilm X-Pro3 and I was sold. I liked it so much that as soon as the 35mm was back in stock, I ordered it, and I love it, too. I am really enjoying using manual focus and the rendering from both lenses is very appealing to my eye. The build quality of these lenses is first rate. I think they're worth every penny. Don't get me wrong, the Fujifilm lenses are wonderful, but the Voigtlanders are fantastic as well. If Voigtlander comes out with more X-mount lenses, I'm buying them. 5 |

[APS-C] This lens is a great example of what to expect in the next generation of lenses from Fujifilm. It's not only fast in AF speed, it offers a distinctly different look than the 35mm f1.4 that we've grown to know and love. While that lens moves all the elements for focus to achieve a distinctive look, this moves a small group with a Linear Motor so the versatility in both stills and video are spot on. This lens gives a lot more flexibility at wide open apertures with subject placement compared to the 35mm, since softness in the corners isn't really an issue. That being said, I still prefer the 35mm for gradual falloff from in focus to out of focus areas for a filmier type look, so one's not necessarily better than the other-each serves it's purpose. Lastly, if you haven't seen the sun stars on this thing-I highly recommend it. Crisp, crisp, crisp without too much flare. Just buy it already, it's been sitting in your cart for too long. 5 |
