Hard Drive Enclosure

[1] If you have a lot of loose hard drive but don't want to buy an enclosure for each drive, you need this docking station.

[Yes, Kensington] I was lucky to have this on hand, when my primary hard-drive enclosure failed. I highly recommend keeping one of these on hand, especially for accessing drives if you have a new Mac Studio.

[Black] I love, I repeat love SSD drives and this enclosure is my new favorite. SSD's are fantastic for a variety of reason. First, they are much less fragile than an old spinning disk hard drive. SSD are silent, which is nice. They are also so much more compact. Making the portability of these leaps and bounds better than the old hard disks. But what really separates an SSD is the speed. They are so much more faster. And with this enclosure supporting M.2, USB-C 3.2 compatible SSD drives, I was blown away with the speeds. This little guy is blazing fast. It can handle anything I throw at it with ease and makes transferring files a breeze. Saves so much time working with this drive. I bought a fast NVMe M.2 SSD to install and was off and running. The toolless set-up was very easy to do and took no time at all to install the drive into this enclosure. Comes with a little thermal pad to eliminate overheating which is fantastic. No one wants to lose speed from overheating and throttling, and this prevents that. The external heatsinks that are built into this case further prevent overheating making sure the drive runs optimally at all times. I've used it for a couple 4k editing projects so far and have noticed no slow downs at all. It cruises along handling everything effortlessly. And it is so small and convenient, it is really fantastic. I also like that they give you a USB c cable too. You can never have too many of those. I am super happy with this enclosure and its size and performance, it is excellent. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

[3.3' / 1 m] This enclosure was a great add-on to my QNAP TS-832X. Added 8 more hard drive bays over 2 SAS cables. Great bang for your buck!

[80 G / 2.0 ms] As usual with B&H, quick delivery, the hard drive installed into my enclosure with no issue and, so for, has been running with no issues.

[Bus Powered] The hard-drive itself isn't rugged but has a rubber enclosure to protect it, presumably from drops of a few feet. I wouldn't huck it out the window of a moving vehicle, but I'm not sure your external drive needs that level of durability. What you're getting here is a solid, sensible, functional increase in your storage space at a reasonable price. I am using it to store large (7gb) photoshop working files so that my MacBook doesn't get bogged down. Working well so far...

[8 to 90%] Using the enclosure for external drive on MacBook Pro 13 unibody. Wanted the Firewire 800 speed for an external bootable drive. Found it best to follow instructions of NOT screwing the hard drive down to the heat sink(even though there were enough screws in the package to do so). As it turned out two of the drives I was using were bad so it was easy to just open the end-cap and slide the I/O board with hard drive out to replace then slide it back in. The two end-caps (one permanent the other has screws to hold it in place) hold parts inside fairly well with a 2.5 5400 rpm SATA hard drive. This case is not intended to be water-proof, shock-proof or dust-proof etc. Just an enclosure for an external hard drive best used laying flat and still. Happy with the fact that package includes USB 2 to USB 3 cable as well as Firewire 800 cable. device is capable of daisy-chaining Fireire 800 devices since it has two ports. Included is a pleather carrying case. Has a tiny on-off switch. Case is see-through clear plastic with reasonably thick construction. The blue LED when turned on is a good visual cue not to shake or move the enclosure as the hard-drive is on and spinning. Careful not to tighten side screws to hold the end-cap in place is they may strip or crack the plastic piece.

[ 2.5" HDD ] Compact enclosure, a 9 mm hard drive fits perfectly (which is good since that means it won't move in the case, preventing damage if it falls).

[USB-C Male] Works as described. Great alternative to a traditional hard drive enclosure. I have many bare hard drives all formatted in raid with years worth of photo and video backups. This dock makes it easy to pull the drives off the shelf, plug them into the dock and get to work.

[20.35 lb] I use this for hard drive enclosure protection and storage; (I started buying these when as a projectionist I noticed that the big movie distributors use this model for shipping their digital features on hard drives to theaters). Just the right size and sturdy. I bought several of these for storing my most valuable video footage. I would buy again when needed and recommend this brand for any delicate computer or photo equipment (including lenses).
