[0.35 lb] One piece design works great with the HP Dock

[8x 2.5"/3.5" ] Was a bit skeptical w/ HP brand when I bought it. But surprisingly, the HP TB dock has been working for over 15 months in a customized travel case that I can take anywhere (hotel, coffee shops, production van, etc). So far it can handle the rough abuse on the road and air travel, extreme operating temperatures from 20 deg  to 95 deg F. Thats the way its on location.  I can use any 3.5 SATA hdds (3-14 Tb). Performance is about 10 Gb/s (1,250 MB/s. Plenty of bandwidth for a typical Seagate Barracuda Pro single SATA drive that caps off at around 250 MB/s with no RAID.  Fairly decent read and write speed. I do not like to buy expensive G-Raid hdds. Theyre nice but just cost too much when youre shooting massive amount of data. And last time I checked in the airport, had to pay for overweight fees because G-Raid drives were so heavy. I average about 8-12 Tb per day of raw footage data. If data i/o is beyond 20 Tb per day, this may be a big bottle neck unless you RAID the 2 drives via software. Bare Seagate Barracuda Pro 14 Tb hdds make more economical sense for massive data in the long run. Plus if you have lots of older 3-6 Tb bare hdds, they can be put to good use w/ this dock.  Dont mind about no power on switch or inability to daily chain to another TB2 port. Mac Mini 2018 has 4 USB-C ports. So not a big concern.  Thunderbolt seems to be much faster than USB3 when high amount of data is transferred at a time. Once the Mac Mini or MBPro is on, I know working because of the bright blue LEDs. Fits nicely in a Pelican case for easy transport. Can be hard configured for Mac Mini 2014, 2018 or any Mac Book Pro 2014 or later models. Havent have any drive disconnection issues since day 1 of using this. Very stable and reliable. Good price, performance and usefulness. Dont see why it will not be useful in any high data raw camera workflow. Will get 1-2 more of these later on for disk replication and data migration.

[Yes, Kensington] Laptops are port challenged. Your best fix is this HP dock. Ports for video, usb C and usb 2 or 3, cat 6 and more, and it makes no noise. Bravo!

[0.67 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this HP USB-C Dock G5 and was finally able to try it out for a week. My thoughts are simple: this product works as intended, the product has a durable feel, and all the necessary components and wires were included. I've always wanted a USB-C laptop dock but just couldn't justify getting from an unknown brand. However, that all changed with the HP branded dock. I really love the lightweight feel and thought that the dock was the appropriate size considering all the different attachments that you can add. Usually, docks are bulkier and contain more components that may be connected to but the price is unnecessarily huge. Anyhow, I feel that this is a good dock that I will use for a long while yet because it has all the connections that I need. No unnecessary fluff. I definitely enjoyed using the dock and my wife loves it as well. I think what could be improved upon this dock is probably a power brick that is built into the unit itself or improving the power output. Another thing is probably more colors to choose from. I am a huge fan of customization so the limited colors available might be a problem. I didn't take any stars off for it though because I understand that colors may not be the most important for a simple USB-C dock. I love using this dock and you will enjoy it too! Again, this product works as designed and I can't really find any faults besides what I have already mentioned. So overall, I would like to thank the manufacturer for providing such an amazing dock and I hope to get more HP products in the future.

[3.24 lb] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being an IT professional I have multiple devices that I need to be able to hook up to dual displays and also have access to multiple accessories. I have used 2 other similar docks and had trouble switching between my MacBook Pro and Dell Windows 10 base laptop. Often various external devices would not connect correctly interrupting my conference calls etc. I am happy to say I have had ZERO issues when docking both of my devices with this HP G5 dock! It quickly powers on and just flat out works every time. This is a huge win for my daily hectic schedules which makes me an absolutely happy and satisfied customer! I will also be swapping out the 2 docks I have in place at my office with just 1 new HP G5 dock. If you are in the market for a USB-C dock I strongly suggest you give this device a try. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed you did!
