[-43 / -23 dB] I really should have bought the ADX20IP Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone WITH the APS910 Power Supply ... but oh well ... live and learn. I use it connected to the Tascam DR-100 MKII and have loved the results.

[4.0' / 1.2 m] I have used this versatile microphone for instrument recording and tested it's use as a spare/secondary film dialogue microphone. For instrument recording, It sounded excellent used as drum overheads. It captured the full sound of the drums, and did especially well with the highs produced by the cymbals. I also used it as an ambiance mic to record a guitar amp from a distance of roughly 6 feet. It was able to capture details that the up close dynamic mic could not pick up. This mic combined with a close up dynamic mic makes an excellent guitar amp recording combo. As for film dialogue, It actually worked really well. It is not as bassy as other mics, but it captured the voice really well from a distance of about 2 feet, and the voice sounded crisp. It also did well rejecting noise from the room.. I am happy to have added this little mic to my gear inventory

[Orange / Green] I have wanted one of these for years and with the B&H sale price I just had to buy it. Great for testing instrument and microphone cables as well as several other common types

[Cardioid] This a VERY good microphone especially for the price. It provides clear accurate sound of acoustical instruments. Being able to change the directional pattern is a great plus. It allows me to pickup just the instrument or the instrument and room reverberations when recording. The violin and viola musicians I have recorded love the sound this microphone produces (so far those are the only instruments I have recorded with it). It would be nice to be able to change the pattern of the mic without having to change the tip but is is not a big deal to switch tips. For the price this is a great microphone it compares very favorably with mics costing 2 to 3 times the price.

[900 mA] I'm gonna put it to you straight: I love this thing.Great things about it? Multiple fingering modes, two banks, rechargeable, wireless with ridiculously low latency (even when battery gets low) and a sound editor software that delivers. Having higher quality sounds compared to EWI4000s is great and being able to layer or octave those sounds without being hooked up to a computer is great for random creativity. For starters, it has a good sound that is actually adaptive to your style of play. I went through the whole of the sound bank and was pleased as I believe it's a true update. There will be uninformed haters out there that will say the sounds are not realistic or sound kazoo-like after listing to samples through a YouTube video, but what they're failing to realize is that it is an EWI, not a reed instrument; and, YouTube sound quality considering the source material and player isn't always that great. The EWI accomplishes everything it set out to and does not misrepresent what it can do in its instruction manual or marketing. I find that if I do a forceful brass hit or a strong blow using the saxophone sounds that there is a distinct difference in how the sound is presented and how it is carried. I find this ability built into the vast majority of sounds I use. These are the great things about the instrument.Areas in need of improvement? Let's see.. some thought that having a wireless MIDI ability would be useful, but honestly, I don't find this that important. Use a cord or acquire a wireless setup that you trust and believe in. Being able to load your own sounds? Get an iPad or a computer, VST library and software and use a cord. Again, I don't find this to be a hang-up. I owned the EWI4000s and did just fine with cords. I did fine then and I'll do fine now.All in all a great buy. Highly recommended. Highly responsive. Highly customizable. And a highly prized member of my instrument collection.
