[50 Devices] There are lots of free applications for IP Cameras, but if you're serious about IP Surveillance you can't do better than Axis Camera Station, and the best way to acquire the licenses is from B&H.

[1 x 100 W] We have purchased two of these so far to use primarily as NVRs for a large number of IP cameras on a school campus. Licensing costs aside, Synology Surveillance Station does a really nice job making it easy to set up and scale with the number of cameras you have. We linked two together, making one the primary and the other a secondary target for recordings. Surveillance Station records direct-to-disk, and does a decent job of adjusting camera settings directly using ONVIF. We have about 50+ cameras running at resolutions from 1280x720 up to 2560x1600, some PTZ, some ceiling-mount fisheyes, mostly wide angle fixed, and everything works pretty well. We were even able to use the manual camera configuration to use some uncommon double-lens cameras. With about 26 cameras assigned to each RS422+, we see about 20-25% CPU on each on average during a typical day. We can comfortably handle 32 per unit, and supposedly up to 40 if needed. With x4 6TB drives in each set in SHR-1 (equivalent to RAID5) we have about a month or so of footage retention. The licensing is a little pricey at $50 per camera (unless you buy in bulk from some european IP camera shops...), but it is perpetual and I think worth the expense. Using two of these units, 8 cheap drives from eBay (luckily these do not suffer from the Synology whitelist) and a bunch of camera licenses, for around under $5000 I was able to build and set up a really easy to use and reliable NVR system with plenty of future expandability. 2-3 users are regularly connected on their desktops without issue.

This is exactly what I needed to get my old surveillance camera back up and running. Thanks.

[0.235 lb] I'm using it for concerts, where it improves footage that previously looked more like a surveillance camera!

[12 VDC, 500 mA] Was needing to have a simple way to record audio to one of our IP cameras, and this device did exactly what it was supposed to do. It allowed us to run the microphone, amplifier, and camera off one PoE connection. Easy to install.

[Zoom] Using this with NEC NP-M352WS 3500-Lumen Portable Short Throw DLP Projector. Powerpoint slides are about 1 second delayed. No audio via the wireless adapter. However, I am happy with the device for my purposes. I also use a hard wire for audio/video usage. After the second round of ordering, receiving, and returning the first order of the projector and this adapter, an with level II NEC tech support, I am finally able to get the devices to work together. Also, I am not going to be using this on a wireless network/router, but through the Easy Connection option (no router present at installation). It came down to one simple operation (from Mac OS 6.8): Before starting the process below, you will need to get the wireless IP address of the projector. Mine was 10.0.39.155. -click on the wireless icon at the top of the screen -click on Open Network Preferences -click on Advanced -click on TCP/IP tab -change the Configure IPv4 setting to Manually -change the IPv4 Address: to something close to your video projector's (my instance: 10.0.39.160) -click OK and then Apply Don't forget to reverse this setting when you're done using the wireless adapter in order to connect to the internet normally. Hope this helps.
