We go camping a lot and the Encore Essential is just perfect before quiet time. The 1/4 in jack gives you an option to plug in a mic or instrument to expand your possibilities. I'll probably get the Encore this Black Friday and gift this Essential to a family member.

I love that it is Bluetooth compatible and I can control it from my phone. I cannot believe how much power comes from this speaker. It sounds clear and clean. I also like the design. It is very sleek. I have listened to it for hours and have yet to charge it. It really holds a long charge! [4 ohms] i love jbl speakers and this speaker makes me love them even more, powerful bass and decent loudness, i own 2 other speakers (Charge 4, Xtreme 2) but oh man those 2 are no match COMBINED
