[Polymer] I own both a Rycote Windshield Kit 4 and Kit 2. The only improvement I would recommend making is to order an optional stiffer Rycote Grey 82 Lyre Upgrade Set--Part #042216--and install one Grey Lyre on the front side of the suspension mount while using a Black 72 Lyre on the back of the suspension mount (or replace both black lyres with grey lyres if you see fit). The grey and black lyre combination works exceptionally well with the Sennheiser MKH-50 in reducing some of the potential handling noise prone to all MKH-50s. It also works great with my Rycote Windshield 4 Kit housing a Schoeps cmit5u. I know everything boils down to personal preference, but for me, running a Grey 82 lyre in the front and a Black 72 lyre in the rear of the suspension mount is a winning combination for both isolation and feel.

[720p] I change out every mic mount I own with the Rycote Lyre system and never have any problems with vibration noise.

[Side Address] In my project studio I record various acoustic instruments such as guitar, upright bass and violin. I also record vocals and various hand percussion. I have traditionally used small condensers such as Neumann KM 184's and AKG C451-B's but was craving the sound that only a large diaphragm can deliver. I love AKG products especially those built in Vienna. So far have only used the 214 on vocals, acoustic guitar and middle eastern percussion and it more than met my expectations. I love the AKG sound. To me AKG's are not as transparent as Neumann BUT that is what I dig about it..it brings a bit of color and an openness. At the price point..this is a must have mic..you can never go wrong with AKG

[3/8"-16 Female] I am a professional sound mixer, and am using this Rycote system to house a Sennheiser MKH-50 and a Schoeps CMC641 microphone.I have always used Rycote systems on all my field microphones over the years. They are durable and effective windshield/shock mount systems.Rycote has consistently made improvements to their designs over the years, and this current Lyre incarnation is no exception. I believe that their Lyre suspension coupled with their Connbox is the most effective shock mount/suspension system to date.Quality materials and workmanship throughout, I highly recommend Rycote to any serious professional or enthusiast.
