[3.05 lb] I installed a pair of Corsair MP600 Pro LPX 4TB M.2 drives in this unit and have them in a RAID 0 configuration. I'm running an old Intel Mac Mini, so speeds are not optimal, but the external drive is faster than Apple's internal SSD that came installed in the laptop. I have to put my ear right next to the dock in order to confirm the fan is running, so noise certainly isn't an issue.

[Lithium-Ion] I have one of these card with 4 M.2 2T 3500 Mbps drives. I had a BIOS glitch and thought I lots the card so I bought another one. My original card is working fine and I am adding the new card to an 8x PCI-E slot for b-roll drives. As long as you don't need RAID, it is great.

[0.32 lb] I purchased one of these through work so I probably wont show up as a verified buyer, but I wanted to write a review to clear up some confusion. This StarTech enclosure is only compatible with B-key SATA-based drives. The specs here at B&H dont list this detail, but the specs on the manufacturers website do. Unfortunately for Rickey, this information probably would have prevented his 1-star review. See the attached screen shot of the relevant spec. As to my actual review, the unit has a sturdy aluminum housing which both protects the M.2 drive inside, and also helps conduct heat away. The speed potential is limited by the internal SATA interface (again, this is not compatible with PCI-based M.2 drives), but thats not to say it inst plenty fast. My only (slight) concern is the ventilation holes allowing dust to accumulate inside the housing over time, but not enough to deduct a star from my review.

[0.085 lb] upgraded my MB to an Asus Prime B760M-A and it accommodates 2 M.2 drives. the speed between those 2 is worth it to me. and it's Crucial, how bad can it be? and for a seldom do it yourselfer, start with crucial site once you know your MB to get the memory and storage guaranteed to fit/be compatible.
