Macbook Pro Recording Studio

[0.525 lb] It just works. I've used this as both a live streaming and recording device on my MacBook Pro. I've typically been using a Nikon D810 1080 stream, and I haven't yet pushed this to 4K. I also don't capture audio through the Magwell, as I use a professional studio microphone and audio interface instead. I don't notice any fan noise at all.

[1] I am an independent musician and when I am NOT recording at a professional studio, I have a set-up at home to do rough drafts/etc. I have the MXL Mic Mate Pro hooked up to my MXL microphone. This Mic Mate Pro provides phantom power & connects directly to my macbook. No reason to have a weak tube pre-amp & millions of feet of XLR cords anymore. PROS: Super Easy Set Up (I can plug it in & record), Super Light Weight (easy to travel with, seeing how I use a macbook, I might record at home, a friend's house, a vacant warehouse, etc), Headphone & Gain Controls directly on the piece (this is a HUGE improvement compared to other XLR/USB converters, including other MXL products), Sound is super clean and sometimes I will record vocals at home to have them mixed and mastered at a professional studio - This saves me money, as I do not need to pay to record my vocals and just have the mixing/mastering which is going to be time I'd be paying for normally anyway. CONS: I feel like the Headphone Volume should be able to go a little louder. I have to control that on Adobe Audition (the program I record in) if I need it to go louder than what is capable on tool itself.

[1 TB] Upgrading from a 2020 MacBook Pro it saves me a lot of steps. My studio is attached to the garage and the Mac Studio desktop I use for processing is on the second floor of the house. Running back and forth for reshoots was wearing on my bones. Now I can process the focus stacks on the spot and reshoot as need.

[Yes] Works perfectly driving my monitor from either my MacBook Pro or my Mac Studio. Automatically switches when either is powered up, or switch input manually. One note: I had trouble with mix/match outputs from computers ie one usb-c/ one hdmi) , but changing both to usb-c made all good.

I use Pro Tools since version 5.3, always getting better recordings, in mobile or studio situations. This new version will be used for most of my work, recording and editing audio. It has a learning curve that is easy and works seamlessly with sessions i already have.
