[1.9 lb] Had the audioengine 2's and wasn't satisfied, moved up to the 5's and found them worse - muddy all across the midrange, overly boomy bass, completely muffled vocals, etc. Wanted something clear and precise, and was willing to sacrifice bass to get it. I picked these up because of the brand's reputation, thinking I'd pair them with a small subwoofer and get better full frequency response than getting the 8020s (or even 8030s) alone. But I was BLOWN AWAY by the low end. No, it's not going to rattle the windows with its power, but the notes are reproduced in the music. I can't believe how good this sounds with professionally mastered music and movies. It thunders when necessary! And one of the best things is that it shows you, right away, how far away your mix is. A good mix sounds amazing. A quicky mix you've done in ableton... sounds horrible. That's exactly what you want from a studio monitor. I've in love and only wish I had picked these up 8 years ago instead of screwing around with junk monitors. I used to joke that these are the only monitors you see at every international art exhibition using sound, but now I know why. I have the space for a subwoofer at my desk studio, but now I seriously doubt I'm going to get one... at least for the time being. 5 stars.

[+22 dBu] I've been waiting on this Mackie Big Knob Studio Monitor Controller and Interface forever, finally B&H got them available, so i went ahead and get one, so far so great, sounds clean and crisp no coloration additive. I'm thinking about getting another one. I've tested the Onyx Mic pre's in Logic pro x, very clean, Mackie Big Knob Studio being advertised only at 24/96KHZ, it goes up to 192KHZ...

[Black] 22 years ago an audio rep at B&H helped me build my first recording studio. I didn't know enough then to realize how stellar the recommendations that were made were. In early 2022 I decided to do an entire upgrade to my studio, from computers to software etc. One of the original recommendations for monitors were the original Mackie HR824's. They are used as near field monitors. One of the amps on one monitor blew out. So I found my self on a search. I went through the usual suspects. Almost went for the Yamaha's but at the end of the day, i purchased 2 brand new Mackie HR8242. I can't believe they are even better than the originals. Clean, crisp, and flat, every mix sounds as its supposed to, in the studio, on my beats, in my car, on the phone, and on the web. They really are just spectacular monitors. Well worth the price of admission without a doubt.

[35.14 lb] I have been using the Mackie SRM Series Studio monitors in my recording studio and home sound system for years, and did not expect this set to sound as good given the price point. I was pleasantly surprised with how good this set really sounds. If you feed them a quality audio source, they sound great. If you plug them into a cheap sound source, not so much. I like that these have multiple unbalanced and balanced input jacks. Keep in mind that these are near field monitors, so the correct placement on your desktop is necessary to realize the potential sound quality.

[1 RU] i have used Mackie mixers in my studio and on location for music gigs and three they get the job done with superb quality. Mackie has the best pre-amps for my mics. I like the fact that the 1202 VLZ4 has two aux sends and more important to me two aux returns. Some mixer do not have aux returns and using another channel is just a wasted channel to me. A good mixer that delivers great sound quality

[Vertical] I run and operate a busy color suite in South Florida. As a full-time Colorist my first and only concern is helping my clients achieve their vision by making their film and video projects look color perfect.But.I recently wanted to add big theater sound. But - how to do that on a budget, and within the physical limitations of a medium size color suite. Enter Genelec. The 7040A Studio Subwoofer by Genelec is the perfect companion for the 8010's. Easy to set up. Easy to calibrate for your needs. I will always remember my first Genelec moment. As my client's movie trailer played on my color monitor - the 2.1 sound blew me across the room. Close your eyes and you won't believe that this kind of sound is coming out of speakers this small. The 7040A Studio Subwoofer is the key to it all. That - my friend - are the Pros. The Cons? Only one, I can think of: the dip switches. I'm used to volume controls - so it took a bit more fiddling around than I thought I would need to get the sound the way I wanted. The manuals for both speakers and Genelec's website come up short on the kind of help that I needed. It took a little time. But once I understood the dip switch ecosystem - I was good to go.That said - the 7040A Studio Subwoofer by Genelec is a great buy. And, combined with the 8010's - you have one POWERFUL 2.1 audio system. That. Should. Blow. You. Away.Best, Jim --------
