[-84 dB ±3 dB] I use for orchestra percussion overhead and that do a great job bringing in everything from xylophone to triangle

[Side Address] In my project studio I record various acoustic instruments such as guitar, upright bass and violin. I also record vocals and various hand percussion. I have traditionally used small condensers such as Neumann KM 184's and AKG C451-B's but was craving the sound that only a large diaphragm can deliver. I love AKG products especially those built in Vienna. So far have only used the 214 on vocals, acoustic guitar and middle eastern percussion and it more than met my expectations. I love the AKG sound. To me AKG's are not as transparent as Neumann BUT that is what I dig about it..it brings a bit of color and an openness. At the price point..this is a must have mic..you can never go wrong with AKG

[USB Bus Power] I got this for my computer and music making. I mainly got it cause it had pads for when I make beats and to make it easier for my percussion. It does that perfectly. Gives me the ability to do so many other things and connects right up with Logic. You do have to manually put some keys in place but it's not too hard. Either way, great buy and a great product.

[Drum Kick Pad] Before buying the kd7 I bought the pintech ergokik and the kat percussion kick trigger. Both broke within a month. Not only has the kd7 lasted longer than both of those, the build quality is much better, and the triggering is much smoother and consistent. Don't waste time with the others. The Roland is a bit more money but definitely worth the extra expense.

[5.8 x 4 x 3.3"] The Korg Volca Drum is a super fun & creative percussion synthesizer. This Volca definitely is unique. It offers six parts each with layers of two individual sounds per part that can be edited separately or together. Programming is very immediate and the controls invite tweaking without having read the manual. However there are a few settings that aren't immediately intuitive which are accessed with the edit/step button and then scrolled through by the select/parameter knob. These potentially overlooked settings really do add to the sound giving bit reduction, wave folding, overdrive, panning, and gain adjustment. The three distortions here add a bit of grit to the sound and in my experience don't degrade the sound too much either, being mostly consistently useable at maximum settings. The motion record opens up the sound design potential quite a bit even if it is a shame that motion recording isn't available for the resonator parameters. I especially enjoy motion recording the rate of the LFO modifier. So many types of synthetic percussion can be made with this synth and, with choke groups, you can treat multiple sounds as a single instrument set. Programming on the Volca Drum is a joy. I plan on holding onto mine probably forever.
