[3.6 VDC] Incredible live music microphone, or for recording up close instruments. While it is not as sensitive as say Nt5's for ambient and nature sounds, when given a substantial volume the mic really shines. I love it.

[Side Address] One of the best (some would say the best...) microphone in the business, particularly for vocals and lower sound level instruments (acoustic guitar, flute, etc...). Extremely sensitive, very low noise. Picks up the tiniest detail. The switchable polar pattern, integrated low cut filter and 10 dB attenuation pad means you can use them for anything in any situation, couple of switches and you are done. Just did a simultaneous recording with my Schoeps on a flute and these sounded even better, if that was at all possible. More velvet and refinment in the mid tones. You could immediately tell why they are unsurpassed on voice. If you can afford it and don't mind how large they are, this is the quintessential studio mic you need in your arsenal.

[9 to 52 V] The 451B/ST may cost a bit more but they are worth the sound they capture. I use the 451's for mobile and studio work, recording various instruments & vocals. 1) Silky, Smooth Sound to melt for. 2) Little to no Eq needed (Fantastic!!!). 3) Sounds great on many instruments. 4) Makes mixing time pleasant (I love it!). 5) Leaves me more time to create. Besides the silky highs, these little microphones Pick up very impresive smooth low frequencies; which is what I was looking for in a small diaphram mic set. Another mic company offers a match pair set (which are great and are an awesome value) but, are just shy from having the 451 sound. The 451B/ST microphones makes recording easier and more enjoyable. You would have to hear other small diaphram microphones to appreciate the sound of the 451's.

[4.905 lb] Now this Mic is AWESOME considering its low price. Designed for voice recording and instruments. Gives you that FAT Sound you always wanted. The quality is about the same with more features. Shelf Filter and a (-10dB Cut). It now uses (2) AA Batteries - Finally! My only complaint? The Foam Windscreen is loose and can fall off. Who cares! This thing is great.

[12] Using as a multi-track home recording situation. I record multiple instruments(guitar, keyboards, synths, electric drums)live into garageband and everything sounds great. Only odd thing about it is that there's no power switch, but this is not an issue once you hook it up to an outlet with a switch.

[Boundary] I was looking for a decent mic to use with my iPad for field recording of acoustic instruments and voices. I run a old-time acoustic jam and the iPad allows me to do minor editing on the spot. Had been using conventional xlr mics patched in through the earphone/mic jack, but was getting noise from the jack and background hum which was unacceptable. In shopping around, the MXL Tempo was the best value of mics which work with the iPad camera connection kit USB adapter. The mic works as advertised, right out of the box. No hum, even at high input levels, which means that instruments don't have to be right up on the mic, potentially bumping into it. The on- board earphone jack is handy, but the normal earphone jack on the iPad gives the best proof of recording quality since it is the true output. All around good product. MXL has a winner.

[5.29 lb] Great size - Great Price and very versatile uses - not just for instruments on-stage, including securely holding recording equipment, saving space on the console or desk stop
