[Figure-8] I am a professional videographer. This microphone is proving to be an excellent solution for video recording choral concerts. I always setup my camcorder at the back of the auditorium and need to set microphones much closer to the singers and in front of the audience as much as possible. I have routinely used wireless XLR clip-on transmitters on 2 microphones at the top of a tall microphone stand with a cross bar to hold the mics at 90-degrees to each other. That's an awkward amount of weight at the top of a skinny mic stand, and balancing the audio from both mics is always challenging. The AT8022 provides a much cleaner solution, with a single cable discreetly leading down the pole to near the base, where I connect the two transmitter modules to the right and left cable ends. In addition to being a cleaner setup, it gives me better access to the transmitter modules if I need to change batteries, turn them on/off, etc. The stereo separation is better than ever, and the microphone sensitivity seems to be nearly perfect for this application. 5 |

[Supercardioid] I recently lined the K&M 210/2 microphone stand up against a budget imitation by Auray (BH #AUMS5230F). As you can see in the picture, I've adjusted both stands to hold identical Shure SM58 microphones in the same position. Visually, the stands are almost indistinguishable. That all changes as soon as you touch the microphone. The K&M stand feels solid where the Auray is very tippy extended this far. I measured the stability difference. The microphone and stand together tip the scales at 3.45kg for K&M and 2.35kg for Auray. The front leg under the boom supports 1.75kg for the K&M and 1.4kg for the Auray. A little bit of math tells me that the rear legs each support 0.85kg for the K&M and just under 0.5kg each for Auray. It takes nearly twice as much force to start tipping the K&M stand and-if you do tip it slightly-the lower center of gravity means it has to be pushed further before gravity takes over. Don't get me wrong; the Auray stand is a great value if your usage scenario involves small microphones in a static environment. They're a great match for my pencil mics. If, however, you use a larger vocal microphone where people will be moving about then it's worth investing in the K&M stand before your expensive microphone takes an express trip to the floor. 5 |

[Side Address] This microphone is the best microphone around. I tested it against other microphones with similar specs and this one sounds much better. 5 |

[90 min] This was a replacement for one of our Shure Wireless Microphones at our Church. It fit perfectly, and now the microphone looks like new again! 5 |

[Phantom Power] Many of us have been hypnotized by the endless sea of microphones that physically look like and sonically aspire to be like the U87. After wrestling with imitations for years, I finally learned an important lesson. SAVE UP and BUY THE REAL THING. You deserve to sound excellent! No matter what your gear is, I feel the most important aspect of recording is a GREAT MICROPHONE. I've used this microphone with inexpensive and top of the line mixers... Neve, Studer, Art TUBE MP's... Wow... Guess what? this mic sounds amazing through anything. From sensitive close proximity spoken word to the slap of moroccan goat skin drums to distorted guitar thru noisy tube amps to quiet, snooty booty cello solos, this mic captures ALL the magic. It captures something inexplicable. You can use it on anything! My only advice is keep it extremely clean, store it in a safe place. :) If you have a home studio, do yourself a grand favor. Get one. You won't be sorry - and you'll perform better as this microphone has a way of inspiring the best performances. Cheers Friends. David 5 |

[Black] I've been singing for 17 years and this microphone is hands down the best one of all Shure microphones, in my opinion. :) 5 |
