[DMX512, RDM] This is a very handy small light. Tail stands very well and works with commonly available batteries

[2.5 Hours ] Corrected review: I’ve been waiting a long time for a quality flashlight maker to create an all-in-one self-defense light that will double as a general purpose EDC light without screwing up the self-defense features. Thank you Surefire and a BIG thank you to J.Y. who drove this design through. This light has the best of both worlds, 800 lumens with momentary ONLY tail cap switch PLUS 5 lumens for EDC use by turning the bezel about a quarter of a turn. The tail cap is the standard Surefire design, screw in the tail cap and the light remains on, turn out the tail cap and the light is locked off (not sure when you would do this unless you are paranoid you might bump your light on while at your local planetarium). The 800 Lumens on the Tactician has the cleanest beam I’ve seen compared to other similar lights. There is no hot spot in the center period. At about 30 feet away on a large white wall I get a bright center with an extremely smooth transition outward to about 30 feet. The light comes with a stout bezel-up pocket clip, an optional wrist lanyard that attaches to small ring around the tail cap, and of course is powered by two CR123A batteries. I own several two CR123A powered lights and this is the slimmest of them all—another pleasant surprise. The finish is typical Surefire quality with a perfect amount of aggressive texture for a positive grip.

[LED] Just another great flashlight from Surefire. Having the two light modes available via the tail switch is very convenient. Not cheap but a quality, US made product. This is my second purchase of this model. I have used the first one for years as a preflight/walk-around light as a airline pilot and it has never failed me. B&H had it delivered quickly and securely.at a great price. Worth every penny.

[LED] I thought my flash light was a gonner after 5 years and the switch wore out. Then when I saw the tail cap was available I was very surprised so I ordered it and the light works like new. I had ordered another HP7R earlier because the lite has been so dependable, then when I saw the tail cap available I got it. So now I have 2 HP7R and my lighting needs are covered.

[50 Minutes ] I like a "clickie" tail switch in general, but the control setup here works just as well . In the old days, the SF lights I have owned were a bit sloppy in the tail cap when loosened and pressing the side of the cap could often activate the light. Here any slop is minimal allowing the tailcap to be tightened just to the point of constant on so that the tightening to achieve constant on can be done one handed. The light while not a thrower, produces a broad, fairly even and useful light. I am using the light with IMR 16340s and so far, so good.
