[1 x 350 W] No issues using as a storage NAS. The NAS having issues with the Sabrent NVMe drives.

[10.15 W] I use as a DAS for my computer. From what I can tell Qnap is the only one right now that offers this as a DAS (computer) or extended storage on you NAS.

[AES-NI] My first NAS was a Synology DS918+ purchased from B&H about four years ago. I added a Synology DX-517 expansion unit two years ago, also purchased from B&H. This combination served me well for my large Plex library and for general files sharing. My only regret was the two 1G network connections for the DS918+. I tried 2.5G via USB on the DS918+ and it doubled my file transfer speeds, but I wanted more. I wanted 10G and the drive capacity in one NAS to provide 10G throughput. This brought me to the DS-1821+ I just got from B&H. To max out this new unit's capabilities, I added a two port 10G card (Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro), two 2TB NVME drives (Samsung 970 EVO Plus), two 2TB SSDs (Crucial MX500), six 14TB drives (Seagate EXOS X14), 32 GB of ECC RAM (Samsung) and I added another sine wave UPS (Cyberpower) for power protection. I found a means through Reddit (Synology) to use the NVME drives for storage rather than just cache, so one remains read cache, while the other became a storage drive. I set the two SSDs in RAID 0, so now I can fully use the 10G from the NVME, the SSD pair or the six spinning drives. Can pigs fly? I don't know for sure, but I am getting the performance I was after with this freshly configured DS1821+. The DS-918+ and DX-517 are now my primary backup for the DS1821+. I have several external WD drives of varying capacities that are used to provide backup for both NAS units. These are rotated off-site to minimize potential data loss. I thank Synology and B&H for providing dependable storage that meets or exceeds my expectations.

[20 TB] It does what you think it does. It does it well. I built a Synology rack-mounted NAS for a small business 5 years ago that is still going strong. So, when I needed one for myself, I went with Synology.

[7.3 x 4.8 x 2"] After more then 11 years, we were able to replace out QNAP NAS box for a more cost efficient and fast storage solution. This 4TB Mag gave us the storage we need and the expansion we are looking for for future use.

[70 G / 2.0 ms] This just plugs straight into a Synology NAS. It gives a warning about it not being on the approved compatibility list, but works just fine. If you're ADDING this to a NAS which already has drives in it, remember that it can only add as much storage as the next-largest disk in the array. If you add one of these to an array containing 18TB disks, it can only add 18TB to total storage. If you add two, then they become backups for each other and you can use the full amount of space. This is also dependent on which RAID scheme you are using, but everyone with a Synology is probably using SHR mode.

[12.385 lb] I purchased this to expand the storage of my NAS and create a ZFS pool to gain the benefits of a self-healing file system. Everything works as expected in Unraid over USB. Disks are detected as if connected by sata. With the fan upgrade, device is silent. (read reviews about the stock fan before ordering mine) The included usb to usbc cable hasn't dropped connection so far. This would also be a good device to pair with a mini pc that has 2.5gbe for a low footprint low power nas.

[8 TB] Bought 2 for my 2 bay NAS. Plenty of storage at a fantastic price. I have always had great success with WD drives.

[1.71 lb] Using this as temporary storage while we build out a NAS for our video team. High quality cheap storage. WD drives have always done well for us.

[16 TB] For all our storage needs - this is the solution! Not only is it reliable, it's one-stop shopping for our NAS and IP camera needs. Cloud storage is the new kid on the block - but this is the O.G when you want your data and videos in-house. I highly recommend it or its other siblings of different capacities.
