[0.04 lb] This lens goes in front of my Nikon 70-300mm VR lens. I have no hesitation in recommending this Canon close-up lens for Nikon users. The +2 dioptre is more than enough if you want to fill the frame with a flower which is as small as one's thumb. Shooting toy cars (scale model cars) with this lens also gave some fantastic images which looked very realistic and appeared as the real car (again because you can fill the frame). I usually prefer the 70-300mm with my camera more than the 18-135mm or 50mm prime. So whenever I want to get close to a subject just put on this close-up lens and continue shooting. You need a step-up filter, bought the 67-72mm Step-up Ring by Tiffen from B&H. Don't expect this lens to help you capture the compound eye structure of the house-fly. Need to work with a good tripod and proper DOF to make full use of this lens. 5 |

[0.3 lb] It is a very sharp lens with fast focus and light weight. It is about the same weight as the Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR lens. At least it feels that way, I did not check the actual weight. It is handheld-able for a short time. 5 |

[Bayonet] I got this for my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Lens. It snaps on very securely, yet is easy to remove. It can also be flipped to make it easier to store your lens with it on. 5 |

[Empty] Good fit on the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR but without the hood attached. 5 |

[Yes] I use with the Nikkor 300mm 2.8 VR + teleconverter 2x for Nature photography and Birds mostly. it works fine, easy to use and very safe due a very heavy equipment, on a monopod works fine too. 5 |

Use it on my AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Autofocus Lens It has a good quality material; its flexible and fits well. Its very easy to put and soft to the hands 5 |

[Full-Frame] I have used both the predecessor 300mm f4 non VR and the 300mm f2.8 VR with my D810 and D4s and for each they served their purpose. The 300 2.8 was a magnificent lens, tack sharp, and worked with all 3 converters but was heavy. I do a lot of waterfowl and wildlife photography which can involve crawling around on my belly and laying in muddy swampy areas for hours. For me the 300 2.8 vs. 300 f4 non VR was an easy choice...just suck it up and carry the larger lens. At least until the new PF VR came out. Sure it is more expensive than its predecessor but for me it allows much more mobility for my type of shooting. The lens works as well as the 300 2.8 with teleconverters with the TC20 being a bit slower on auto focus but acceptable. The image quality is stunning. For one stop loss of light I will gladly sacrifice 6 extra pounds of lens.As an added benefit with the smaller size it meets the 8 or smaller lens requirement at Minute Maid park here in Houston so I can take it the ballpark and stick a TC in my pocket.Overall I have been very impressed. 5 |

[Nikon F] I have been using this lens for about six months on a D800 and, at times, on a D300; the serial number is over 205101. My primary use has been outdoors for nature photography. Performance is as hoped. It's light weight and easily managed. Shots are great. The trick is that it is optically 300mm and needs to be handled as you might handle a 3OO mm lens. MPK61's review below seems to reflect an experience close to mine. No, this lens doesn't produce images as well as my tripod mounted 600mm f/4....but It didn't cost close to $10,000 and can be easily grabbed from camera bag or carried at my hip while I lug the big glass around. The accompanying image was hand-held with VR on as follows: D800, AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR; f/4, 1/100s, 400 ISO. 5 |

[f/2.8] I owned the non VR version of this lens, but when Nikon added VR to this lens, I knew I had to have it. Great lens. 5 |
