[-50 dBu nominal] I looked at using a recording app since iPhones do not support internal call recording. They are all too complicated, expensive, and simply a pain to use. It became obvious that I had to use a separate recorder to record cell phone calls on an iPhone. I got this unit to record the best quality sound when needed for film work. For the price nothing else beats it. It works perfectly with my iPhone 6. I use either an Olympus LS-11, TASCAM DR-100 MkII, or with a proper cable a Sound Devices recorder. I also have an Olympus TP-8 Telephone Pick-Up that B&H sells that costs almost nothing and it works pretty well with very little set up required. However as another reviewer said this CellTap provides two output channels (local and remote callers) that can be mixed in post for best overall sound quality.

[0.1 lb] I used this for a focus group, paired with an Olympus recorder. It worked fantastic for a small group in a conference room, placed in the center of the table. I can even tell the location of the speaker on the playback.

[Omnidirectional] Works very well with Olympus 702PC recorder. Has clear voice when I am speaking and when others as far away as 30 ft in the open air. Very adjustable. Enables recorder to be in shirt pocket or jacket. Used concealed under shirt too and volume and clarity are great. If the shirt brushes against or hand moves it while recording. the recorder will pick it up. Make sure to get a recorder that has automatic volume control. It's a mono mic. The only minor thing about it that can be improved is the hood is fragile and falls off. I taped the back end of the hood to the mic with painters tape and it's fine. I am glad I got it. It's worth the investment. I recommend this product

[Handle] I first saw this product on YouTube ... a videographer was using it to mount his Zoom H4n external sound recorder and I knew it was a must have ( I was looking for a way to mount my Zoom too) I like the fact that the head swivels so you can position the recorder so you can see the recording levels.

[16.2 lb] I have a Korg D3200 multitrack recorder, and it's showing its age. These units work great, and the quality of the sound is quite good, but they're pretty complicated to learn .. and worst of all, use an internal hard disk and a CD writer .. both of which are nearly obsolete these days. Also, these units are extremely sensitive to power failures and glitches .. a problem with the power supply while the unit is running can corrupt the disk beyond repair. To guard against possible failure and to get myself a little further into the future, I bought this Tascam recorder. It's considerably less expensive than the Korg, and has fewer features .. but is easier to use and does NOT have an moving parts .. no disk drive, no CD drive .. in other words, less stuff to fail or become obsolete. I'm still learning how to use it, but what I've done so far is impressive. It stores everything on SD cards, so there's not much that can break. And it connects to a computer via USB, making all the raw .WAV files available for backup/restore... or even offline editing on other devices if that's what you need. The quality of the sound is quite good. You can record up to 8 tracks simultaneously, so it would be pretty good at capturing a live performance .. and it will play back 32 tracks (although some are 'stereo tracks) Hard to beat for the money. I'm having a blast with it.

[6.1 x 4 x 1.6"] Makes it so easy to put my sound recorder (wireless) where I need it to connect to my camera. Would definitely to it again.
