Panasonic G85 Mirrorless Camera Review

[IPS-Type LCD] I use a Panasonic UX-180 and a G85 for shooting event videos, each camera has one of these monitors. The false color feature enables quick exposure matching between the two cameras and cuts color grading time in post production.

[Yes] I got this adapter to use my old Canon lenses with my new Panasonic G85. Works pretty good. The metal interface on the lens side fits perfectly. On the camera side there is a tiny rotational slop after it clicks into place, but I can't see how that would effect anything. Of course, there is no communication between lenses and camera - no image stabilization, autofocus or aperture control. But still a great bargain if you don't need your lens to talk to your camera.

[PCI-Express 3.0] I brought this card for my Panasonic Lumix GH6 Mirrorless Camera, it works great, however what I did not know is that 4K recording is only giving you about 42 mins recording time.

Let me start by saying that there is no perfect unicorn camera, but this camera presents itself as a next wave, mirrorless powerhouse. Panasonic upgraded this camera from the GH5 family in so many ways. The list of features all deliver and the look of the image is just incredible. I have used it on a few shoots and have not been afraid to use any of its video quality settings. I have no fear of overheating and the unlimited record limit keeps my mind on my shots and not the camera. Some things on it could still be better (I'm not going to say it), but it is a big improvement from the GH5. Also, in a time when camera manufacturers can easily get greedy, Panasonic obviously chose to keep the price at a point that makes sense.

[1.23 lb] I have used a variety of mirrorless cameras, starting with Sony A7s and A7rII and then the GH5 and most recently the Canon EOS R. The only camera that Ive held on to long-term is the GH5, so I was very excited when I heard Panasonic was releasing a full-frame mirrorless camera. Now that it has arrived, it is truly the most professional, robust, and beautiful mirrorless camera Ive used.  To complement my GH5, I wanted a full-frame mirrorless as well. I bought and tested out the Canon EOS R, but found it frustrating ergonomically and with hindered video specs (big crops, no stabilization, etc), it required a lot of compromises. It took beautiful images, but for video (which is what I mostly do), the GH5 outperformed it in every way.  Next to the EOS R (and definitely all the Sonys), the Panasonic S1 feels like a true professional camera. Its a bit heavier than the other mirrorless cameras, but since I mainly use Sigmas 24-70, 18-35, or 50-100mm, once you have the lenses on there, its not a huge difference. Its actually more comfortable because the grip is so nicely designed.  REALLY looking forward to the 10-bit, V-Log update in a couple of months as well as the Sigma EF L adapter in a few weeks. Will really help make this camera shine.  With Sigma officially on board to make a lens collection and with Panasonics track record of amazing lenses, the L-Mount and Panasonics full frame cameras will be the system to beat in the near future.
