[0.48 lb] I don't know what you need to say about it. It does exactly what it says it does. I use mine to hold some VR controllers as well.

[1.7 lb] Let me start off by saying that my need was not at all what this item was intended for but it still worked like a charm. I produce VR content and needed a way to mount a fairly heavy camera a few feet away from a wall. The location of the camera and the nature of VR shooting made it impossible to use my jib without it being completely visible on the shot. After days of searching online I came up with a completely off the wall solution, pardon the pun. This along with a right angle baby plate mounted on the wall has allowed me to do just what I needed and this arm has enough strength to easily hold my 7lb setup. Perfection.

[5] Mounted my 200-500 Nikon VR lens on my D850 camera and shot the moon last week. This was the test I was looking for in a new Tripod. This one passed with flying colors. Excellent for the price!

[Surround] I have a K2 Pro VR camera and always wanted to experiment with ambisonic audio but never jumped on the bandwagon due to all the options out there and quite frankly laziness to learn a new process. Boy was I wrong, the learning curve with this is so simply, specially if you use Premiere Pro that I felt ashamed I had put it off for so long. That is of course without saying just how much immersion the audio from this thing adds to your VR production. Must have.

[9, Rounded] My kit lens is occasionally pulled out for wider angles, otherwise it's all this guy. The brightness, ability to shoot low light, and the shallow depth of field bring out the best in the camera (D3100). Aside from the expected, the contrast is much better on this lens than the 18-55 kit. That's a huge difference when shooting even the same apertures as you get a better tonal range. I keep the lens set at f/2.8 for a good balance of sharpness to brightness. For better resolution I stop down to f/3.5 or f/4, for portraits or really low light I'll give up a little resolution and go f/1.8. I would love to one day see a prime like this with VR/IS which has totally spoiled me to slow shutter speeds. But the big aperture allows for faster shutters, which means in low light you get less subject motion blur, something VR can't do. There are no cons to this lens for the price, Nikon did it all. However, there are some interesting points. The focus ring does feel, as a popular review site mentioned, gritty. It's odd, but it doesn't affect performance at all. I'm sure it's just a price trade-off to a smooth, silky feel. And, the hood is shallow. Does Nikon really expect this to be shot on FX bodies so they made the hood for a true 35mm focal length? Regardless, not having this lens and only shooting with the kit does your camera a disservice. Put it on your holiday list, skip 50 lattes, donate plasma -- get the lens! -- and have fun :-)
