Profoto B1 500 Airttl

[Audio & Visual] I finally upgraded my D1 500WS set to the D2 Duo 500/500 AirTTL 2-Light Kit and immediately, I noticed how even the light was throughout the 100 Portrait shots that I took at my latest photo shoot-so my keeper rate improved using the AirTTL option and also saving a lot of time w/o having to use my light meter or set up my Pocket Wizards. So to answer my own question of why did I wait so long, I really don't have an answer because had I not waited, I could have saved a lot of time that I can't get back. Great job Profoto of producing the D2 Duo 500/500 AirTTL 2-Light Kit, and I'm glad made the switch. Marty C.

[Black] Profoto makes some of the best umbrellas and this doesn't disappoint. Excellent build quality and produces a beautiful light. I use this with a Profoto B1 and B2 and like how I can adjust the spread of light by sliding the B1/B2 head along the shaft. I use this with and without the optional diffuser. Great for location shooting as long as it's not too windy outside.

[50°] I mainly use this grid on my profoto b1 as a hair light or head shot rim light. It does a good job of keeping the light directional and helps to prevent getting any lens flare from spilled light.

[Silver] This speed ring is perfect for using the Photoflex OctaDome on the Profoto B1 or Ikelite DS125-161 strobe heads. The Ikelite DS-161 and 3' OctaDome works well for certain applications that are very wet or underwater and the Profoto clamp is perfect for the Ikelite head.

[Silver] I use this with Profoto B1 monolights. It's extremely portable and compact which suits the portability of the lights.I can't compare with other beauty dishes as I haven't used any - but it works very well for portraits with just the deflector in place. Nice even crispy light and the deflector lets enough direct light through that you get a pretty clean catchlight (no black dot in the middle). I also got the grid and diffusor and it behaves similarly to my Profoto 3' Octa with those in place. It may in future replace the octa if I can't see much difference.I use it on a standard Profoto RFi speedring with no problems. Not having a Chimera one to compare with I don't know if the fit is any better, but mine looks just like the product shots when mounted so I assume any difference is minimal.The fabric is not as thick or tough as a Profoto softbox, but it seems quite robust.

Profoto makes great products and this is one of them. I use it on my D1 air & B1 air. They work on both monolights which is good. The variety of channels and frequencies is a great option to have. It is also useful to have the in & out connection on the side if you want to add an on camera flash. Just velcro it to the top of the flash hook the pc cord to the flash sync and the other end to the transceiver and you can operate both. One thing they could beef up is the hot shoe. It should be like the TTLN which is much stronger. Other than that it is worth getting the 2 year warrantee the shoe does break.
