Rear View Mirror Camera Sensor

[67 mm] I had my Sony DSC-R1 camera modified for taking pictures in Infrared light. Rather than having the visible light blocking filter replace the original hot mirror filter in front of the sensor, I had it replaced by glass transparent to IR through UV. This way I can use the camera for normal photography as well as IR and UV. My only problem is that the Tiffen Hot Mirror filter that I bought to be able to take color photos in visible light has no blue tinge, as do all the sensor hot mirror filters I've ever seen. This means that my color balance is shifted to the tungsten side. I had to do a white balance in manual mode on the camera because I can't adjust white balance in Auto, where I admittedly do much of my shooting. Not a BIG problem, but an unexpected one. Otherwise, it's great!

[0.055 lb] Installing this rear filter holder couldn't be easier. Caution: The screws that need to be removed are very tiny and I would recommend magnetizing the supplied screw driver. The glass filters themselves install without difficult, but you must be careful in handling them as they are not very thick. My only concern was installing or changing the ND filters in the field because you have to remove the lens from the camera body. This exposes the sensor to the elements for however long it takes to accomplish this task. I would strongly suggest putting the camera body cap back on while you do this to protect the sensor. Otherwise, it is a well thought out quality product that I've come to expect from Haida.

[Nikon IR] The only thing that I would like to see different is the location of the sensor on the camera, it seems to me it would be better if it were on the top of the camera where the remote could be used from the front or the rear of the camera. It's a small inconvenience, other than that it works great.

[52 mm (Front)] Works fine - lens mount is good Angle of view on the camera sensor is slightly wide angle - with some vignetting. Excellent effect if that’s your thing - take your pinholes on digital and know what you’re getting right away

[0.03 lb] I purchased a motion sensor, trigger sometime ago. The trigger has a 90/94 degree cone of activation so unless you want the camera to go off with every little movement outside the lens view angle you need to set the sensor close to the target. With this cable I can setup the sensor next to the bird feeder while the camera is at some distance away (Birds are not aware that the camera is taking photos). With this setup the sensor only detects movement in the area you want and within the lens view angle.

[0.22 lb] Clean, non abrasive, absorbent and no lint make them perfect for sensor or mirror cleaning. Recommended

[1024 x 768] This rear cam is small enough to not interfere with your view out your back window. The picture quality is great!!!
