That's not a camera default : that let you the maximum red light width entering in the CMOS, but that can create unwanted effects, specially in blacks. Using this T1 filter will remove this bad effect and produce (after good white balancing, preset or mesured) a perfect picture. And not too much flare effects with incident light.
