Got this to connect my XPS 13 from 2016/2017 to my 27" thunderbolt Apple monitor. It worked straight out of the box. However I have a Dell TB16 dock as well. Tried using that as well. So the dock's usb-c connector goes into the XPS, and the Startech adapter goes from the dock to the Thunderbolt monitor. That didn't work: I needed to update the BIOS, Thunderbolt firmware, thunderbolt driver, and installed I believe the latest thunderbolt application from the Intel website. Everything works now, even the audio and usb ports on the monitor. (facetime camera doesn't work, since it can't find a driver). All in all good buy, but I can't connect my 2019 macbook Pro to my thunderbolt monitor with the startech adapter. Monitor does not activate. Seems to only work with Windows machines.

[RS-232] Like all Startech products, it works. I installed the driver, it asks me to reboot, I did (be sure you do) and I plugged it in to my USB port on my HP Spectra x360 and it works. One other mention, the quality. The Startech product looks good, feels sturdy, and made of solid material. I write this review because few companies have great products, even better support, and seem to care like these folks.

[HDMI Female] I plugged this into a new PC with USB 3.0 ports. Plugged in a monitor and no display (no auto driver installation). I Googled rocstor usb to hdmi driver, found Rocstor's product web page and found the link to the driver. Installed the driver and, easy-peasy, the display came to life. I saw no embedded USB drive on my device. Works fine so far.

[3.3' / 1 m] No knock on the product, but I had hoped it would connect my USB -B ported laser printer to the USB-C port on my notebook. It's an older printer and the port is USB 2.0 standard. The description for this cable said USB 2.0 so I hoped Windows would recognize the printer. The printer manufacturer (very well known Brand) does not provide a driver for Windows 10, but their Website says Windows 10 comes with a driver for it. This printer worked with my previous Windows 10 notebook via USB, and via ethernet worked with previous Windows versions back to XP. The computer would see the printer and list it's name, but would not install the driver. I tried a few other USB adapters with same problem and no luck. Turns out you need software in addition to hardware to make this conversion. I have since obtained a Startech port adapter for connecting my notebook to dual monitors, mouse, keyboard, ethernet, and the printer all through the notebooks 1 free USB-C port. Had to install drivers for the port adapter first, but now everything is working great. If you have a new printer, with installation software, this cable may work just fine. If your printer is old, you will need a port adapter with software.

[USB-C Male] The Yamaha USB MIDI driver did not move forward from iMac High Sierra to Mac Studio Ventura without using Rosetta emulator - which so far I have not been inclined to do. I started looking around for USB/MIDI wizardry and found this item. It works perfectly with no Yamaha drivers. Naturally, this cable does not fully expose the MO8 like the driver does. What it exposes is a bunch of routable and assignable MIDI channels. After testing, I was relieved to find out the cable itself is seen as a proper MIDI device, and discovered by Mac OS, and integrated perfectly in both DAWs I tested. (Pro Tools, Logic) On the keyboard side, the MIDI channels follow the parts in multi-timbral operation which is how I use the MO8. I have lost very little, if anything. So far, no delay compensation has been required.  And the price is great. And its wonderful. And I'm happy.

[1x PCIe] Bought to use in USB class-compliant mode but also occasionally use it with a Windows 11 PC. The USB driver passes all of the Windows Driver Verifier checks. And it works pretty well in Linux, too, though one cannot access all of its features.

[16:9] Very interesting design and concept. It is a a two part setup that attached to your laptop with magnets. And then it will slide out and be the second monitor as shown. Worked right out tic the box and no need to download any drivers or software for my HP. It is connected through USB C and no driver is needed but there is a USB adapter to the cord and that will require a driver down load. The screen slides out nicely and then it pivots as well to help add visual adjustments based on the laptop set up. Is a great addition to have for working remote and having a small simple second screen to become more productive and navigate faster.
