[28.5°] I have used the Sigma 14mm and now this Samyang 14mm; it is extraordinary in quality. I know there have been some QC issues with Samyang (Rokinion), and if you have some blurring on edges, send it back for replacement...this one doesn't have issues and is extremely sharp when I tested it...it is prone to more vignetting than the Sigma 14, but the edges are sharper, as is the whole image...great buy for the price. 5 |

[Mini-USB] This is my first star tracker and I got this in conjunction with the Samyang 14mm F2.8 Lens and I have to say, it's amazing. Although a tracker isn't necessary for such a wide angle lens, it still helped me capture magnificent images of the milky way galaxy. I'm going to also get a 135mm F2 lens as well and that's when the tracker will be put to the true test. Will update my review when I get the lens and take both of them for a ride. 5 |

[Zinc Alloy] This adapter allows me to use my Samyang XP 14mm EF lens on my EOS R6 Mk2. I mounted the lens using this adapter, set the camera to release shutter without lens, and was then able to use my favorite astrophotography lens again. I don't know what impact this will have on my aperture settings. 5 |

[Manual Focus] I have shot the Samyang 14mm on my D810. The manual focus works well and can be set at about 7 feet and left there. The 5.6 aperture is the best. Photos have been excellent. The quality, feel, and price are Great! Buy One. You will enjoy it! 5 |

[95 mm] I got this lens to replace the original Samyang 14mm for five reasons: 1. The severe moustache curvalinear distortion of the Samyang was a problem, requiring special software to correct. The Irix distortion is moderate and easily corrected via photoshop RAW (9.1) 2. The Manual stop down of the Samyang w/0 preset stops was also awkward and difficult due to dark viewfinder image when stopped down. The Irix only stops down for the exposure meaning you always focus wide open. 3. The image quality is very good even at the corners, comparable to much more expensive lenses. 4. The removable lens hood with port AND being able to use 95mm filters 5. All this for $400.00 (OK more after Canadian currency exchange) makes this lens an exceptionally good deal! 5 |

[3mm] I have been looking at the following Fisheye lens in the m43rds format: Pany Fisheye Pany Fisheye converter for 14mm Samyang Fisheye The converter makes the 14mm about an 11mm, which isn't as wide as the Samyang at 7.5mm, and the Samyang is much cheaper than the Pany Fisheye (nearly half the cost), so in terms of performance to cost, this Samyang is easily the best value for the m43rds format so far. Immediate impression upon getting the lens is that it's extremely well made and solid for such a tiny lens. Comes with a lens pouch which is nice (hello Olympus...). Pics taken so far have been terrific and this lens is a lot of fun. Set it at about f5.6 and everything is sharp. It can be used for shooting in low/dim light conditions, but I recommend setting it up on a tripod to get the very best out of it. Furthermore, this fisheye helps to fill a gap in my lens kit. I have been looking for an ultra-wide angle lens, and all of the current ones available are really pricy (but worth it too I think). By getting this lens and defishing the pics (Hugin Freeware), I have by all accounts a pretty inexpensive ultra-wide angle lens for landscape photography (I would still prefer the Pany 7-14mm, but that's nearly 3 times the cost of this lens...) The only drawback that I can see for people getting this lens is that it's a manual focus lens (much like the Canon FD legacy lenses that I use so you have to shoot in manual mode without lens), but I don't have any issues with that and I find it a pleasure to be able to manually adjust my aperature where I want it anyways. 5 |

[f/4.5] This Samyang 14mm f/2.8 is a great lens and I'd buy it again. But first the negative. If you take pictures of subjects with straight lines you will notice the distortion, so be sure to correct for it in Lightroom or whatever program you use. I had to download a custom lens profile but it fixes the distortion quite well with just a click. Now the positive. Optical clarity is fantastic, I had done some night sky photography with my D5100 and the kit lens at 18 mm, then used the Samyang and the difference was incredible. Wider obviously, but so much cleared and so many more stars. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend, and it's a great value for such high-end optics. I almost gave it 4-stars because of the distortion, but the price and optical quality easily balance that out, and I don't believe you'll find a superior lens at twice the price. If you want this optical quality without the (correctable) distortion, be prepared to spend a lot more. 5 |

[APS-C] I had heard on good authority that this Samyang 14mm lens was extremely good for night sky photography. It was said that it manages coma, the distortion that elongates stars into crescent shapes towards the outer edge of the frame, much better than other lenses. Do you know what? It is all true! The stars remained pinpoints throughout the frame! Remarkable! It is a totally manual lens which means that the focus and aperture are only controlled on the lens. Only the exposure is controlled via the camera body. If you can get past that rather insignificant methodological hurdle, you're home free. (Didn't everybody shoot like that in the film era?) Anyway, this is now my go-to lens for photographing the Milky Way! No question about it! And there is one more remarkable thing about this lens. Its price is one tenth of the cost of the 16-35mm lens that I was using before! Amazing! 5 |
