[Black] The HD 800 S is very comfortable and feel exactly the same as the old HD 800. The sound stage and imaging are amazing (like before) and Sennheiser (finally) fixed that high peak and added a little more power to the bass. However, I feel that they are still as picky in terms of amp-pairings. Definitely do your homework on pairings (try them out at a local hi-fi store/audio meet) before dishing out for these. They may sound fine on some amps but are lackluster on others and require more power than most other headphones out there. Accessories are the usual except they now come with the balanced cable -- which used to cost $400 separately. I can't comment on the difference in sound between the unbalanced 1/4 and balanced XLR cables as I haven't spent the time to A/B test them, but it's nice of Sennheiser to include this if you ever need to switch to an amp with only balanced outputs. The included cables are a bit long if you're not in a studio, but if you have the money for this pair of headphones, you can probably afford a custom, shorter cable for portable/at-home use.

[5.25 x 4 x 0.1"] This would be the Illmatic of Headphones for DJs. Sennheiser kept If it ain't broke, don't try fix it. Many user replaceable parts. Light weights construction for hours of use without fatigue. I believe 2024 marks the 35 years anniversary of this headphones. As glasses wearer, on-ear nature of this headphones works wonder. Since nothing existed in this world is perfect, here are few cons; little thin and easy to get tangled straight cable, coiled cable is also nice to have but little to heavy and long for my taste. Although included Pleather pads are comfy, and gets worn out rather quick. Invest in velour pads like ones from DT770.

[0.72 lb] It is a great headphone case. B&H displays it at the bottom of the Sennheiser HD 800 listing, which at least suggests the HD 800 would fit in it. It is not even close. The HD 800 heaphones do not fit in this case.

[Black] Finally, Sennheiser has come out with an 8000 series figure-8 microphone. They should have released this mic 10 years ago. The figure-8 pattern is fundamental to MS and Blumlein stereo techniques. It’s an extremely useful pattern in general, even though most audio engineers don’t use the pattern often enough. As for this particular microphone, it’s fantastic. Sounds great (just like the other MKH 8000 series mics) with a low end much better than most figure-8 mics. Low noise. Small, light, lots of output. Nice non-reflective finish. This RF mic is not affected by high humidity. I use it in a DMS configuration with a Sennheiser MKH 800 Twin. The 8030 replaces a MKH 800 P48 set to the figure-8 pattern which was previously used in that rig. The 8030 works fine in that application, sounding just as good as the 800 P48. Compared to the 800 P48, the 8030 is slightly noisier and has about 3 dB less output; neither difference is a problem. I own a Neumann KM 120; the MKH 8030 is better. I don’t know how Sennheiser could improve this microphone. It’s an expensive microphone, so I guess they could make it less expensive, right?

[0.6 lb] Sennheiser had discontinued their case for the HD-25 headphones. This is a good roomy fit for the headphones

[36 Ohms] These replaced my old Sennheiser HD 580, open back headphones. I’m a drummer and I chose them for their natural, even sound throughout the entire range. Very comfortable to wear for hours. Appreciate the 3 cables, wow! Awesome. Carry pouch is nice to have. Very pleased with them. Thank YOU!

[ Included] Had to convert optical output from new TV to analogue to drive two Sennheiser headphones. Works perfectly.

[0.115 lb] The Sennheiser HD300 Pro headphones have the clarity and accuracy that any audiophile would opt for. In addition, the closed back design is perfect for noisy environments. They fit snugly without unnecessary compression. Dollar for dollar, they are a great value.

[Black] For some reason, I brought a TRRS male to TRS male cable with mic (primary used for old Sennheiser HD485), and I saw this headphones in BH store, and tried it with the cable I brought, and I was surprised how good the sound even with a smartphone (I tested with few YouTube music videos). After I tried with few YouTube music videos, the store started to close, and OK, go for it and I was the last customer left with this HUGE headphones. I put it on when riding train. Sensitivity is actually enough for both music and phone call, but due to the size, it's recommended to listen it at home or office (this headphones is pretty comfortable for extended phone talking with boom mic). After I got in my friend's home, I spent a lot of time to listen to some local music made from CD in FLAC format, and I am blown away how good the sound is (it has a lot of bass but it's not muddy at all) and I like it more than Sennheiser HD598 and ESP500. I planned to buy Sennheiser HD600, but I worry sensitivity is too low for smartphone. The phone is capable with 32bit/192kHz with PowerAmp. Open Air design can let me hear anything around me. Get additional cable with TRRS male to TRS male with mic (or boom mic) and have fun with your smartphone or tablet.
