[0.39 lb] I have only taken this out once but the results so far have been beautiful. In context, I've owned the Canon 85mm 1.2 and the Canon 85mm 1.4 back in my dslr days and the Sigma DG DN 85mm 1.4 lens most recently. I shoot a lot of on location portraits and found the 85mm to be too tight on many of the locations I shoot. With that, I reluctantly traded in the Sigma on the Sony 50mm 1.2 lens. I didn't have the funds to keep both. (The Sigma is an amazing lens btw). After shooting the Sony 50mm (another great lens) I found I really missed the compression of the 85mm focal length when I did have the room, so I started looking around for a sleeper and I found it! Im still recovering from the price tag of the Sony 50mm so I was looking for something cheaper than the Sigma to have on hand for those occasions I wanted an 85mm. This Tokina fits the bill perfectly. It is a simple, no bells and whistles piece of glass that takes images comparable to any of the best lenses Ive used. The difference between 1.8 and 1.4 is negligible at best and this is built like a tank with its metal construction. I got it on sale for $399 and is a steal at this price. After shooting this I couldn't justify spending the money on the Sigma again which was one of my all time favorites. It is a very basic lens but the images are awesome even when shot wide open at 1.8. 5 |

[0.16 lb] Boy am I glad I pre-ordered this lens the day it was announced (This is my 4th Sigma ART lens). My first Sigma Lens was 18-35mm f1.8 followed by the 50mm 1.4 ART, then the 85mm 1.4 ART and now the 135mm f1.4ART. The toughest buy was the 50mm 1.4ART because of all the negative comments about Auto Focus. I had a Canon 50mm f1.4 that I was upgrading and I was very nervous about the Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART due to all the negative review, comments about AF accuracy and speed. I found the sigma 50mm f1.4 to be just as good as the Canon 50mm 1.4 which then led to me buying the Sigma 85mm 1.4 ART with a little more confidence. With the Sigma 135mm f1.8 ART, I quit reading and listening to all the negative comments about Sigma's AF cause it was not worth passing up on the ART lenses especially when every one of my past Sigma ART lenses have been just stellar and AF was fast and accurate. the Sigma 135mm f1.8 ART is no exception. This thing is faster than all of my other ART lens (85mm ART included). I did my usual AF speed and accuracy test, just for fun and I was amazed by results, it is near perfect! especially considering the fact that I shoot on a 6D which is not exactly the best in AF! I have included the pictures, judge for yourself. overall, this lens is crazy sharp! the bokeh is just absolutely beautiful, the AF speed is ridiculously fast and the AR accuracy was the icing on the cake, cause I am nailing focus way more consistently on my 6D with this lens so much so that it makes my 6D's AF look good (if you are a 6D owner you know what I am taking about) 5 |

[Canon RF] The 85mm does a great job on my Fuji GFX50s II with an adapter. The F.1.8 really allows you to use a high shutter speed making it easy to handhold. At 1.8 through about 4 the lens gives you a smooth, dreamy look. After that it is quite sharp. Nice feel and the Macro feature allows you to get REAL close. Very satisfied with the lens...and as always...with B and H! 5 |

[58 mm (Front)] Youd think for the price this would have some flaws. At f.1/4 its pretty sharp at f.2 its razor sharp. I did not look at the outer edges of the frames as Im concerned with my subject. Good buy for the price. 5 |

[0.195 lb] For 30 years I’ve considered the 85mm 1.4 and always shied away, thinking the 50mm 1.4 or 100mm 2.8 would suffice, or I had little money, or not enuf time to use it, or thought it might be too heavy, or…or…then I ran out of excuses; and…bought it and the very first two informal, natural light portraits of my daughter “in the wild” were the best portraits I have ever taken of anyone in any lighting in my life. Of course a photogenic daughter helped. (mike drop) 5 |
