[f/1.4] WOW!! I used to have the Canon 135 f2 but sold it right after receiving this Sigma 85mm f/1.4. Super sharp with gorgeous bokeh! The only negative...the ONLY one...is that I hate the lens weight. It is kind of heavy on your neck. Probably i need a shoulder belt to carry the camera with this lens.

[Manual Focus] Having owned the GREAT Sigma 85mm art lens and the FANTASTIC Tamron 85mm 1.8, I can say without reservation, THIS LENS IS AMAZING!!! This lens is as sharp at 1.2, as the Tamron at 1.8!! That is INSANE considering the Tamron is fantastically sharp at 1.8... Wow... The Sigma is sharper yes, but it doesnt go down to 1.2! Ill sacrifice the MARGINAL sharpness for the better aperture, boken rendering (OMG!!), and overall different artistic look this lens provides... Oh yeah, its manual focus.... But Im adapting to Sony so........Lol

[Proprietary] works with Sigma 85mm lens. inside it matte so reflections are not a probably. Works like a lens hood should, no complaints.

[35mm] I used to have the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 and it was everything they said about it but it didn't felt right for my, this sigma is not as sharp as the 55mm, nor as an 85mm but it's unique look makes it an amazing portrait lens, the rendering is really good and I prefer the warmer colors from sigma, I had the 65mm before and sold it for the 55 but now I got it back again also because of the weather sealing the 65mm is a well rounded option.

[1.76 lb] I've have been looking at this lens for about 6 months now. I was a hard decision between the rokinon, nikon and sigma 85mm lens. However, once i looked at various photography forums about this lens I was amazed about how alot of buyers were comparing this lens againist similiar lenses. This is a all manual lens so zoom with you feet, it will take a couple of shots to get to use to it but once you have figured it out the results are astounishing. A great lens take will sure you in both still photography and dslr video. The AF confirmation chip is a waste of money its not very accurate save yourself a few dollars and buy one without this feature if you can.

[0.39 lb] I have only taken this out once but the results so far have been beautiful. In context, I've owned the Canon 85mm 1.2 and the Canon 85mm 1.4 back in my dslr days and the Sigma DG DN 85mm 1.4 lens most recently. I shoot a lot of on location portraits and found the 85mm to be too tight on many of the locations I shoot. With that, I reluctantly traded in the Sigma on the Sony 50mm 1.2 lens. I didn't have the funds to keep both. (The Sigma is an amazing lens btw). After shooting the Sony 50mm (another great lens) I found I really missed the compression of the 85mm focal length when I did have the room, so I started looking around for a sleeper and I found it! Im still recovering from the price tag of the Sony 50mm so I was looking for something cheaper than the Sigma to have on hand for those occasions I wanted an 85mm. This Tokina fits the bill perfectly. It is a simple, no bells and whistles piece of glass that takes images comparable to any of the best lenses Ive used. The difference between 1.8 and 1.4 is negligible at best and this is built like a tank with its metal construction. I got it on sale for $399 and is a steal at this price. After shooting this I couldn't justify spending the money on the Sigma again which was one of my all time favorites. It is a very basic lens but the images are awesome even when shot wide open at 1.8.

[FUJIFILM X] I recently bought the Sigma Art 85mm and it had quite a number of focusing issues that couldn't be solved with AF Fine Tune on my Nikon D810. This little device fixed all my problems. I read a previous review that said it doesn't work with Macs, but the program definitely worked on my MacBook Air.

[43.3 mm] This 85mm is a new addition to my Sigma lens set. I already use the 20, 24, 35 and 50, and they are all simply fantastic. First off, these lenses are FAST! 20mm T1.5??? Whaaat? That's madness. Next, they are all incredibly sharp wide open. No need to stop down to get a nice, crisp image. And with the sharpness, comes a beautiful creamy bokeh and great texture and colors. Add to that a (relatively) small size for a cine lens, a nice focus throw/rotation for super accurate focus, beautiful build quality and 8K ready, and you have an excellent tool for many years to come.
