[0.385 lb] Using it for guitar but appears to suit small amplifiers well.

[A, C] I use it for guitar amplifiers and home appliances - have been working great.

[Download] I've owned this power amp for about 4 years now. I use it for guitar though. I run a small tube amp into a dummy load then into a tube EQ and FX unit and into this amp. I can get the best sounds I have ever had at any volume as the tube amp is cranked up all the time. I'm not sure if the other user has a defective unit or not but I have never even noticed the fan even when I am home alone in my living room and turn the thing on. I've tried a couple of other power amps and this one seemed to have the best clarity and sound but again I am using it for guitar but I will add that I am an extremely picky tone fanatic!

[0.16 lb] I bought to of these to run as a stereo pair for guitar amplifiers in a live environment. They are terrific! They handle whatever two 100 watt amps can throw at them and do not color the sound in any sort of negative manner. They definitely let the amps tone shine right through. I went from two classic Sm57s to these and I just notice more clarity and detail than I did with the 57s. Mic placement is a breeze. I spent all of 5 minutes with a pre-recorded loop figuring out the most natural sound and its very easy to find the large sweetspot with these mics. Again, the 57 does not have a huge sweet spot.

[0.9] Since obtaining this microphone, I have used it to mic up two different guitar amplifiers to good effect. Overall, the sound is warm and the bass response becomes more pronounced the closer it is placed to the grille cloth. Positioning the mic around six inches away produces a more balanced and useable sound IMHO. I have yet to try this mic with a Cloudlifter, which I believe should, when used in conjunction with the Fat Head II, yield a better, hotter signal.

[0.01%] I use to as a headphone interface to a guitar tube amp DI out. It works great for that.

[Clear] I read a lot of reviews of this preamp which complained about the lack of headroom and tendency to distort the signal easily, producing a wooly, dark, or muddy tone. If you are looking for a clean, all-purpose preamp with very little character then this is not what you are looking for. However, if you are after a warm, dreamy tube-driven sound then this is a great low-price preamp to add to your arsenal. It's become my favorite preamp for a classic acoustic guitar tone paired with a beyer ribbon mic-- beautiful warm, woody sound with a little gentle tube compression. Happiest I've ever been with an acoustic guitar.

[2x AAA] The solid-state analog circuitry provides a very pleasing sound when using clean channel. The stock speaker is fine and does not need to be replaced per various YouTube videos. The sound is warm and almost like a tube amp as notes and chords trail off gently in waves. This amp is perfectly suited for me as an older guitar player who plays blues, rock and jazz at relatively low volume levels. I always look forward to playing guitar and hearing this amp and will continue to use and enjoy its clean channel with a $25 Azor analog reverb pedal. I strongly recommend this amp to anyone who wants that British tube like amp sound without spending a ton of money.

[Solid-State] I have now recorded about 4 times with this mic (male solo vocal and acoustic guitar at the same time with just the one mic. I am impressed and very pleased. Even tho the guitar is not miked it picks up beautifully. The vocals are detailed, clear and resonant. I have read that switching out the tube makes it even better and so have purchased additional tubes to this end. So far the supplied tube is so good I haven't felt the need. Eventually I will try out the other tubes and see if it makes it even better. So far... Bravo Rodes!
