[0.195 lb] This solar filter was so easy to use and protected the meter of my Canon 5 D Mark III during the event. The instructions and video link that came with the filter were so helpful as I had never photographed an eclipse. Although I was not in the path of the full annular eclipse, it as still amazing through my camera with the help of this filter!

[Multi Coated] I bought this filter for the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017/8/21. Yes it is expensive, but if you are a serious solar eclipse chaser who travels around the world to catch a glimpse of it, this is a must have item to capture the phases of the solar eclipse in sharp, white detail. Please view the compare and contrast photos between a disposable filter and the Marumi filter.

[Solid ND] I use this filter to take pictures of sunspots, it fits on my Nikon 300mm zoom lens.I have used other Solar filters but they leave a yellowish tint. This one doesn't. Works great

[Brass] I bought this filter last year to photograph the partial solar eclipse (as seen from here in eastern Washington).  The weather didn't cooperate, so I got no shots.  However, in preparation for that eclipse I took a lot of practice shots of the sun, using the NiSi filter.  I use a Nikon D300 (although I have both a D800 and a D850, I don't want to risk possible sensor damage to the more expensive cameras by repeated shots of the sun), a Nikkor 80-400 mm lens, and a Nikon 1.4x teleconverter, with the NiSi solar filter on the lens, of course.  I found, like other reviewers, that the unedited images, shot with normal daylight white balance, look grayish-white.  Yes, that can be changed in post-exposure editing, but I found that if I set the camera's white balance to 10000K, the resulting images look pleasingly orange right out of the camera.  I do, however, usually increase color saturation in post--just for aesthetics.  The filter works great with my camera/lens setup, and provides plenty of darkening--so that I usually use 1/2500th, f8, ISO 100, when the sun is fully in the clear (no haze or clouds).  At those settings, sunspots are sharp and clear--as are other interlopers, such as I sometimes catch (on purpose) when shooting practice shots for the coming eclipse next month.  The attached images, shot through the NiSi solar filter, show sunspots by themselves, and a commercial airliner passing between me and the sun, with a couple sunspots on the sun's surface showing.  I shot the images handheld, in both cases. Images are cropped to better show subject detail. I bought this filter because of its reviews, and because of the good price offered by B&H.  I've been totally satisfied with the filter's performance.

[Multi Coated] I bought this Hoya filter specifically for solar photography and in a size that fitted my largest front end diameter lens, making use of step rings to attach it to smaller lenses. I will only be using this on mirrorless cameras, as it is not recommended for any use that directs sunlight to the eye. It works. I was able to photograph the midday full sun using a normal range of aperture and shutter speed settings in conjunction with low ISO settings. The best results revealed a well exposed and defined sun with sunspots visible. There was no indication that the camera or lens received any form of damaging solar radiation and I felt safe using this filter.

[UV] This protector came with my Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens. It fits well and the solar filter easily screws into it.
