[9, Rounded] I bought the Sony E mount version of this lens for dedicated indoor studio macro work. For Sony cameras this lens configuration has a factory attached and not removable adapter at the f stop ring to compensate for the shorter flange distance difference versus SLRs mounts. Rokinon rarely shows images of the Sony mount. On a Canon body the f-stop ring is close up against the body. The lens attaches securely with no wiggle or other looseness. The E mount version overall length is 5.87” as stated in the specs, the hood adds another 3.2”. Minimum focus distance is 1 foot from the sensor on the Sony a7II, so working distance at 1:1 is about half that and even less with the hood in place. Filter threads are sufficiently deep, but the lens cap has 3 mm deep threads to secure it to the lens barrel, so be aware that some UV and other filters with narrow rings might not let the cap fully seat and end up resting on the filter glass instead of seating around the entire circumference of the lens barrel. With the hood reversed for storage, the end of the hood sits even with the end of the lens barrel with no room for a cap between the lens barrel and the hood. The weight is not awful, on an a7II it balances nicely, without any need of a tripod collar. I can see where the balance would be an issue on the Sony 6000 series. The f stop ring moves easily, with full and half stop points clicking securely into place. I actually like that the f stop ring is away from lens mount a bit. Focus is silky smooth over the180 degrees. Fine focus control was the deciding factor for my purchase and is the very strong point for this lens. Sony focus peaking makes this a most useful macro lens, more than making up for the lack of auto focus. It comes with a nice drawstring bag too. It’s no Leica or even a Zeiss but it’s tack sharp with tolerable optical and chromatic issues.

[5 x 5 x 0.2"] Original lens cap was blown off the lens atop Mount Haleakala in Maui in high winds This cap used in conjunction with the Sensei Cap Keeper Lens Cap Holder will ensure that does not happen again.
