[85mm] The Sony FE 85mm F1.8 has been a great lens to shoot with on my new A7iii. I was previously a Canon shooter, and I am not sorry I made the switch to Sony Mirrorless. The 85mm in conjunction with the A7iii resolve an astounding amount of detail when zoomed in on the preview screen. I am sure that I would be even more amazed if it was G Master glass, however this F1.8 is a great choice in itself. I would recommend it to anyone in need of an 85mm for their Sony body.

[Sony E] Disregard that earlier review by "Lance". This lens is awesome. The AF mimics a normal focus pull and the weight makes it easy to swap out on a gimbal. I originally bought the 24mm V-AF and have been using it for a lot of gimbal work, I found that at times I would need a 85mm, so I use the Sony 85mm 1.8. To keep things consistent, I got the 75mm 1.8 V-AF. When switching focus, it is more organic and natural compared to a photo lens. I got the front accessory as well to dial the manual focus and it makes the feel of the lens much better. If you are interested in using this for photo, fear not. The AF speed can be adjusted via the lens station and will give you fast speeds as a normal lens would. My only gripe with the 75mm is the breathing which is normal at this focal length. Wish Sony extended the lens breathing comp to 3rd party lenses. On the other hand, the 24mm V-AF doesn't have any lens breathing comp at all. Overall I am happy with the build, quality and performance of this lens. This is a video centric lens and as such, the expectations should align with it. For the price, it's reasonable at $649. Looking forward to more accessories and improvements of this lens.

[77 mm (Front)] I sought this lens having been disappointed with the Sony 85mm 1.8 which in my experience missed focus tracking moving subjects & the bokeh was unremarkable (to me.) The roikinon/samyang lives up to my expectations whilst retaining a small, discrete footprint. For the price, you can’t go wrong. Be mindful of bad copies, my previous Amazon purchase was soft, low contrast and missed focus whereas my B&H copy was perfect.

[Sony E] Sigma's i-series lenses are a standout at every focal length for their compactness while maintaining enough quality to produce great shots. This 90mm is going to get compared heavily against Sony's 85mm f/1.8, and for good reason. I've had both, and I chose the Sigma. The Sony 85mm f/1.8 is a fantastic lens with great qualities, many better than the Sigma 90mm, but the category that kept it out of my bag the most is size. Do I wish the Sigma 90mm was a bit faster? Yes. Do I wish the Sigma 90mm had less distortion, vignetting, and CA? Also yes. The Sigma wins hands down in size, and size is a priority in the type of shooting I like to do (compact travel kit). I can fit the Sigma 35mm f/2 and the Sigma 90mm f/2.8 is a small sling and get 90% of the shots I want when I'm traveling. I can swap either for the Sony 20-70 f/4 if I think I need it. The Sony 85mm f/1.8 is a great lens, better than the Sigma 90 f/2.8 in many categories, but it's just a little harder to work into a travel kit for me. And besides, vignetting and distortion can be fixed in post, and CA isn't so bad that post-correction can't fix most of it!

[Canon RF] The 85mm does a great job on my Fuji GFX50s II with an adapter. The F.1.8 really allows you to use a high shutter speed making it easy to handhold. At 1.8 through about 4 the lens gives you a smooth, dreamy look. After that it is quite sharp. Nice feel and the Macro feature allows you to get REAL close. Very satisfied with the lens...and as always...with B and H!

[Yes] I bought this to replace my old Sony 85mm f/1.8, and though it's not as fast as the Sony, it's sharper, lighter, and smaller. Time will tell if I'll miss the custom button on the 85mm, but the aperture ring is a nice bonus, and the metal hood is more durable than the plastic one on my old Sony. I'm very pleased!

[9, Rounded] It's very sharp. Focus is quick and accurate for photos and video. The Sony 85mm 1.8 is a tiny bit faster to focus but I enjoyed the Viltrox more overall.

[Sony E] Highly satisfied with this purchase, it will replace my Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 - crazy to think Sony has outperformed Zeiss, but it has in my hands! This is a big lens but the images are spectacular.

[28° 30'] The NIKKOR Z 85MM f/1.8 S LENS is a very impressive lens that is great for portrait photography. The build quality is great, the weight is excellent, and the focus in pin sharp. I don't think I've ever owned a better 85mm lens.

[Manual Focus] Having owned the GREAT Sigma 85mm art lens and the FANTASTIC Tamron 85mm 1.8, I can say without reservation, THIS LENS IS AMAZING!!! This lens is as sharp at 1.2, as the Tamron at 1.8!! That is INSANE considering the Tamron is fantastically sharp at 1.8... Wow... The Sigma is sharper yes, but it doesnt go down to 1.2! Ill sacrifice the MARGINAL sharpness for the better aperture, boken rendering (OMG!!), and overall different artistic look this lens provides... Oh yeah, its manual focus.... But Im adapting to Sony so........Lol
