Startech Laptop Docking Station

[Plastic] This is another great docking station from Startech.com. Solid build and great ports, including an SD card reader that I really love. This dock worked perfectly for my Windows-based notebook, after installing all the necessary drivers. The issues came up while testing with a Macbook Pro, but I don’t entirely hold the Dock to blame. The issue came from the MacOS version; I upgraded to the very latest version and the chipset isn’t fully supported. Look at the website (support tab) and heed readme files and driver information bulletins, if you are the sort to not jump at the latest updates, you might not have any issues. I fully believe this is a temporary situation and will be solved in short order. This is a solid docking station with a 60 watt power supply, something I think is essential in a one-cable docking solution. Video output is excellent on both HDMI and DP. This docking station was easy to set up. The quality of it seems to be nice and the docking station looks premium. It seems to be working flawlessly for what I need. [16 x units] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This docking station is a must have for my multi-tasking household that has way too much tech. There are ports for any peripheral you can want or need - micro SD/SD, audio, 7 USBs, ethernet, and of course HDMI. I do wish it had multiple USB-C ports but that is easily solved with a small dongle. I primarily work on a laptop so this dock is great for allowing me to become "static" and have my laptop utilize external monitors. The dock is very study and I really like that it has it can stand vertically, a nice space saving measure. Overall, this docking station has worked exactly as anticipated.

[6.27 lb] I have a laptop docking station (display port, dvi) and a PC (dvi, dvi) connected to the switch. the switch is then connected to one monitor via dvi, and the other via a dvi-hdmi cable. My docking station requires an adapter for the display port. I am having no issues switching between the two. The PC and laptop goes to sleep just as it did before using the switch.� One thing that is a bit odd is the monitor that is connected via the dvi-hdmi cable will randomly come on even if neither the PC or laptop is on. Not a big deal, I just turn the monitor off when I am done using it.
