[32 Ohms] These light simple headphones have replaced studio quality ones costing hundreds more in all applications around my home. As a musician, quality & fidelity reign supreme, but value is always appreciated too. These sound as good as ANY I've ever owned at any price. I give them as gifts to friends now, they are simply that good!

[1/8" / 3.5 mm] i a bit of a headphone enthusiast, being a musician. i have ultrasone studio headphones, westone w3 in-ear-monitors, blue mo-fis, and various others. i was stuck in NYC recently and needed some headphones that played a bit better with some studio gear i had picked up, so i decided to take a chance on the GRADO SR80es. i'd heard about grados for years, but hadn't wanted to play around with open-back headphones. as soon as i tried them on in B&H i was sold. it's true that the SR80es don't have the pounding, overprocessed bass of something like, i guess, an Apple Beats headphone might have. but in terms of overall sound quality - blend, balance, sense of SPACE. these things absolutely amaze in those categories. i can't believe the quality of sound for $100. the open-back nature of the phones delivers an entirely different listening experience. wider, more open than anything i'd heard previously. yes, sound leak is a thing - you won't be able to listen to these on an airplane or in bed next to your significant other without them hearing plenty. and yes, sound will 'leak' IN as well, but i personally enjoy that. walking around NYC with the sounds of the city blending in to the music i was listening to - adds a new element and also adds the bonus of hearing the trash truck just before it runs me over.

[Gold] Comparing this to AKG K240 Studio monitoring headphones it is not as good. But it's very close. This was the only headphone I could find with a removable cable at this price point. Sound quality is very good but not excellent. This may be that I haven't broken the headphones in yet, but the sound stage is stiff and the treble with percussion is a bit muddled without good separation like on the AKG. These headphones have more emphasis on the low-end than the AKG 240's though. Comfort-wise these headphones fit better than AKG from the get-go -- it took awhile for the AKG's to loosen and stop squeezing my glasses to my head. However, I wish the pads were slightly bigger or oval shaped to fit the ears more comfortably. The padding is very soft. Another reviewer noted that the Polsen's 32ohm drivers cannot be driven by an iPad, but this is not the case. I had no issues when testing with normal volumes on an iPad Mini 2. The AKG K240's are 55 ohms in comparison and are decidedly quieter. A good purchase for good quality monitoring.

[Yes, on Cable] So I needed a replacement/upgraded pair of studio cans that I could use extensively that would tell me the truth... it was either the Mackie MC-150 or these and decided to spend a little bit extra for the quality, and it was worth it... the stereo imaging on these are AMAZING, its funny sometimes I forget I got them on my ears and for a few moments think my studio monitors are still turned on, it doesnt lack in any low/mid/high area, but doesnt hype anything up either, very accurate and fun to work with, if you have a good ear for tracking/mixing even mastering these can be a very valuable tool to have in the studio, overall one of the best pairs of studio headphones I ever had, rivals certain other studio headphones twice the price, highly recommended

[1/4"] Sometimes cheaper is better, but these studio headphones sound great. They sound much better than some more expensive studio headphones I've used.
