[3.7 V] Nitecore 18650 Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery is a great source of stored energy. Being rechargeable makes this battery cost effective. This Nitecore Li-Ion battery has demonstrated its dependability in a flashlight over a period of seven hours of intermittent use. Great product!

[LiFePO4] The rechargeable surefire 123A battery set up came out years ago, was discontinued, and eventually became impossible to find. I've gone thru about 20+ boxes of the surefire batteries in the last 12 years. I wondered if surefire gave the recharger another go and found this. Naturally it was sold out. But I did the notify me and I finally got this set up. So far it works great. Just make sure you put the batteries in the charger before throwing them in your flashlight. My Surefire E2D LED Defender is the best flashlight I've ever owned. Payed $205 for it 8 years ago and worth every penny. I take it everywhere, I use it everyday/night. Surefire batteries are expensive but they work. But I finally got the hopefully $ saving rechargeable set up.

[Glass] I have several SureFire flashlights and this is now my favorite. In addition to being very bright, it offers a personal defensive capability too. The performance ratings, such as maximum candela, appear to be correct based upon my measurements. Just think that it can light up an object located over three football field lengths away at 0.25 lx, which is the illuminance resulting from a full moon. I suggest that you purchase a spare SureFire 18650 Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery (one comes with the flashlight) and a pair of A123 batteries. The 18650 provides the greatest output. Also, the COAST S40 Sheath holds the Fury nicely.

[0.1 lb] 18650-type lithium rechargeable batteries are very popular for high-powered LED flashlights. These batteries have a high energy content (up to 13 watt-hours) and are capable of high peak current discharge (up to 40 amps); they should not be stored loosely such that an accidental short-circuit could occur! This carrier is made of very tough, flexible rubber, about 2 mm thick. It securely holds the batteries and protects the battery contacts. Unlike a tray-type carrier, this carrier allows single cells to be removed or inserted without allowing the other cells to become loose. You can carry extra batteries in your toolkit or range bag without fear.

[0.185 lb] Great light but getting the rechargeable battery will make you use it so much more often.

[< 1 ms] I have used surefire for many years and appreciate the durability and in this case a compact design. A reviewer elsewhere suggested using rechargeable batteries to extend the life at the brightest setting and I plan to try this as well

[Handheld Only] Lightweight and does a nice job gripping the 123 cells I have used with it (Surefire rechargeable LiFePo 123 cells and Fenix 123 cells with the built in USB charger.
