[0.585 lb] Out of the box, this enclosure is in a field of its own. Built like a tank yet seems to easily dissipate heat for the M.4 device. I'm using this with the new Crucial T700 2TB Gen5 NVMe. Working great!

[1 x USB 3.0] This is a solid enclosure and I've used them for years. The fan is not silent but in most cases quiet enough. I've installed at least a dozen of these over the last 5 years and so far, so good. It provides Thunderbolt 2 and USB3 but you really buy this to use the Thunderbolt 2. Otherwise there is a less expensive USB3 only enclosure. We've used them to stripe two SSD's for a 4TB RAID and we've used them for backups with mirrored configurations. Can easily recommend.

[Yes] I have tried several brands of USB/Thunderbolt NVMe enclosures but have never found them to be high quality products, until I found the HyperDrive Next USB4 enclosure. This enclosure is extremely well engineered, and honestly is higher quality than most turn key external drives you can buy off the shelf. I really like the all metal enclosure to help dissipate heat as well as the rubber shell to help protect the enclosure. The activity light on the top center is also a really nice touch. Performance wise, this one is the best I’ve used. With a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB drive, I’m exceeding 3GB/s (bytes, not bits) for both read and write speeds. I am extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a DIY USB NVMe enclosure.

[1 TB] Priced right. Delivery was on time. B & H answered my questions in a timely and detailed manner. I put the Viper4300 in a Acasis 40 Gbps M.2 Name SSD Enclosure with a built in cooling fan that is compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4. It is external storage for my new M2 MacStudio purchased from B & H and Abe was great help with that purchase. I found plugging the enclosure into the 1st Thunderbolt port (closest to the ethernet port) on the back of the MacStudio was important. This port has a Thunderbolt USB4 Bus 0 address in the Apple Hardware Thunderbolt/USB4 Device Tree and everything to register as a Thunderbolt 4 device. When it was plugged into the 3rd or 4th port it would only show up as a USB 3.1 Device which meant it would not run at the higher transfer rate of 40 Gbps. The only thing that would have made this better is if B & H carried the Acacis enclosure to make it one stop shopping.

[0.495 lb] Have been using this for about 4 months with a SABRENT tool-less Thunderbolt 3 enclosure and it is as advertised. Fast, big, and reliable. Loving it.

[0.365 lb] It's nice to be able to put a raid array enclosure in a different room but still have thunderbolt 3 speeds. My only regret is not realizing that optical tb3 cables exist earlier.

[Yes] These are a huge asset in a thunderbolt enclosure with a 4x link. I needed to transfer 3TB and this made quick work of it. The drive slows from 2.5GB/s to 1.5GB/s somewhere around 2.2TB into the transfer, which is to be expected. If you transfer closer to the drives capacity, the speed will take another hit, but I didn't see the drive drop below 800MB/s. This is a very usable SSD for shuttling data.

[1 GB DDR3] I've love B&H. The SSD drives and enclosures arrived in less than 24 hours after ordering! I am temporarily using this (I hope) on a 2011 Mac mini while waiting on the rumored 2018 model. I ordered 4 Samsung 860 Evo 2TB drives to replace a Lacie external drive with 2 3TB spinning drives in a RAID 1 enclosure. Setup of the new enclosure was quick since the drive enclosures easily accept 2.5" drives. Software setup and volume setup was also very easy. Black Magic shows my disk speeds using Thunderbolt 1 as: Write: 397 MB/s Read 510 MB/s. I moved over 1 TB of data from my old RAID enclosure in about 65 minutes. I hope to be able to take advantage of Thunderbolt 3 later this year. If I have one wish for the enclosure is that OWC had a similar enclosure for 2.5 inch drives so that it would be much smaller. Overall I am very happy with it!
