It's relatively compact when collapsed. it does have a built-in fill light, which helps when lighting conditions are less than ideal. and an affordable price.

[0.17 lb] Ultra smooth zoom and manual focus rings, quick focus response, bright view, positive response of buttons. What more could one ask for?!

[Yes] I was going to buy a ultra-wide zoom, but since my main zoom lens goes down to 24, I'll only need the ultrawide focal length. Once I'm to that point, I might as well just go wide and crop tighter in post; hard to get out of slide photo habits. 14mm for full frame is plenty wide and many flashes have a spreader panel that allows the flash to work well with 14mm focal lengths. So I spent a lot less for this lens and put it towards a zoom at the other end of the spectrum. It's fully manual, so I have to remember to focus the lens (work, work, work).
