[2 x 4 TB HDDs] I was outgrowing my 1 TB external single drives, and it was about time to separate my work projects from my personal. The item arrived quickly, and sported the lovely new electronic smell. Install was a breeze; as I don't have the need for RAID at the moment, I converted the drives quickly to be independent of each other, with one drive making multiple backups of the other. My system doesn't support USB 3.0, so I can't comment on the speed. But I can say USB 2.0 speeds are similar to other external drives, averaging around 20-25 MB/sec, according to the disc tests I ran. 4 months later the drive bay still runs like a charm. It is very quiet, located about 4 feet away from ear shot, and can only be heard when booting up the desktop as the drives spin up. This won't win you any awards for speed if you're doing heavy video processing. For now, it serves my purpose as a drive for my photography business, but I fear as the cameras keep increasing in MP sizes, I may need to update the desktop to either USB 3.0 or something similar, as USB 2.0 is starting to show its age (rendering full size previews of thousands of images can take a long time)!

[20 to 90%] Perfect for connecting USB-A devices (keyboards, external hard drives, etc.) to a device that only has USB-C!

I added this adapter card to my 4 y/o HP desktop to gain USB 3.0 capability. I found it easy to install and also purchased with it and installed a StarTech 4 Pin Molex to SATA Power Cable Adapter (6) from B+H, although not necessary to run my two USB 3.0 external hard drives. But for $ why not get the power cable in the event you need to power a device that needs the extra juice? I have not tested any actual transfer speeds; however, I do notice a much, much faster transfer rate when I back up the data on my computer's C: drive to the external hard drives. I also intend to use another of the card's USB 3.0 ports to attach a USB 3.0 SDXC/CF card reader. Instructions for installation of the driver on the accompanying CD was easy.

[0.35 lb] The Pearstone USB cable is a quality cable, better than those that typically come with external hard drives, etc. Also, they come in different lengths, which is handy depending on one's use.

[1.02 lb] B&H computer expert solved my problem of USB external hard drives dropping photos while transferring data by suggesting use of powered USB hub linked to USB port on MacBook . Works wonderfully. 4 External hard drives now transferring data without any loss. Thank you B&H, Happy customer.

[1] Always trust SanDisk’s quality I became more trustworthy when using SD cards, external hard drives, and USB. Many other companies had inconsistent read and write speeds and had a lot of hype, but SanDisk products were still reliable. It was my first time using this product and it was very good

I have several external hard drives and I can leave the all hooked up and turn them on and off as needed.
