[Flip Lock] I normally video amateur sports (soccer is a fast paced example). Having finished a couple games with my iFootage Komodo K5, have to say I'm very happy with my choice. I especially like the smooth horizontal panning. I was not expecting the built-in resistance while panning but after the first half of the first game, I understood the advantage of having it. Especially liked the adjustable quick mount that let me center the camera weight resulting in smoother vertical camera angle during zooming actions. 5 |

[0.2 lb] So far, so good. I upgraded from a 50D so I could get my camera back from my son, who uses video and primarily shoots higher quality, amateur photography: he will use the 7-D. He shoots sports photography (like skateboarding, snowboarding and traditional sports) and portraits, so we use everything from a 70-200 2.8 telephoto, to a 10 mm fish-eye and a 10-22 mm zoom. The camera is faster, more versatile and a little heavier than the 50D, but they are still similar. The upgrades are worthwhile as long as you want or need video. The only drawback he noticed was no automatic sports-mode (unless he missed it). Its simply a question of money: is it worth the extra $600 or so for video, 8 pics per second, a new focus mechanism, and a few other upgrades? I thought so, and still do.Richard @ 5 |
