[Front] This is basically the APS-C equivalent of the 24-70mm 2.8, virtually a legendary workhorse for any photographer. I shoot stills and video on an a6500. My most basic requirements for my kit for decades (going back to when I only shot film) has been a zoom with a wide range and also a fast normal lens. Maybe add a dedicated portrait lens and an ultra wide. I have the Sony 18-135mm, and Sigma's trio which is just such a well planned set of primes (except for the varying filter threads!!), plus a Samyang 12mm. I rented Tamron's 17-70mm and it's fantastic, but for my work, it was just bigger and heavier than what I wanted. This Sigma fits the bill perfect for splitting the difference between my fast primes and my convenient super zoom. I loose some speed and some reach, but gain loads of convenience while retaining the amazingly small size. This zoom may be redundant in a few ways, but still the best of both worlds when I want/need it. Full frame guys (I shoot that too) may complain about slightly deeper depth of field and minor lowlight differences of the sensor, but this lens with a fitting camera is very close to a frame professional 24-70mm set-up at a fraction of the size. As for the extra 20mm you gain from the Tamron, I'm okay with a small crop if I need it and I can live with the 1mm less on the wide end. I would have loved the stabilization, but at least I have IBIS, even if not quite as good. I hope this review helps a few people looking at the same decisions as me as I was sizing up the 17-70, Sigma's trio, and this lens (the Sony 16-55 is just too rich for my blood).

[1.24 lb] I use this on my Sony FDR-AX100. I was looking at other wide conversion lenses that were much cheaper. But the distortion and vignetting was always a problem. This lens has minimal distortion and I can zoom through without any vignette. Some of the cheaper ones you can't even zoom through much or at all. As they say you get what you pay for when it comes to good glass. It also doesn't take up much room in my camera bag and it's not that heavy. Build quality was great and I like that it came with the correct adapter for my camera. Highly recommended.

[Autofocus] 14mm is a bit too wide, but with Sony a7III allowed you to zoom in x2 and x3 it's very convenient. image is very crisp. Distortion is acceptable.

[67 mm] All zoom lens that have wide angle features need a lens hood of this type when not using flash.

[4 x 4 x 0.4"] On a recent outing with my full frame Pentax K1 I had hoped that my current Lens, a 24-70mm zoom lens, would be sufficient to capture everything I wanted but, much to my chagrin, was greatly mistaken. Yes, the individual photos turned out alright but with a super wide angle lens they could have been great. The Lens I really wanted was a super-wide zoom but I was not willing to pay the $2000 price tag which came with it for a lens I seldom use. Enter the Irix 15mm F/2.4 Firefly. Because it is a prime lens distortion is very well controlled without any curved lines when they should be straight. At F/2.4 it is relatively fast compared to other lenses and I was impressed with my indoors test shots without flash in low light. In outdoor settings the F-stop can be slightly higher for added depth of field without compromising shutter speed. The manual focus works well and the infinity stop is just soft enough to be noticed without creating additional camera shake when speed is of the essence. I find that the infinity setting works for most situations unless i'm shooting very close in and all my test shots came out clean and crisp. So much for the full frame review. When mounted on cameras with a C-sized sensor the lens converts into a 22.5mm prime lens with all the afore mentioned attributes. To put it into words everyone can understand: I received two lenses for the price of one. I give the lens 5 stars all the way for the price I paid and for what I use it.
