[Glass] Inexpensive. Dead-on 10 stops (based on some fairly limited testing). Throws a little yellow-orange-brown ish color cast, but it is fairly uniform making it manageable and correctable.

[Glass] Note: I have owned and used the 52mm (lens front) and 39mm (drop-in) versions of this filter. I have worked with all sorts of filters in the yellow-red/contrast dimension of colors on black and white film. Of course, I always want to have the perfect general contrast filter for use in a variety of conditions, as the first one I would choose for walking around, and this B+W orange filter fits the bill for my tastes. This color perfectly for 80% of the situations I encounter. The other 20% are dramatic sky shots (about 5%, red is best) and low light night shots (about 15%, yellow is best, and brighter at night). For portraiture, yellow is usually good for Caucasians (unless they are freckly red-heads), and orange is perfect for everyone else (Asian, Hispanic, African, etc.). Since I usually photograph Asians, I prefer this orange filter. It is perfect, and as a bonus it dampens blemishes very nicely. You may also wonder if the MRC coating is worth the extra cost. If you plan on shooting a lot, and you don't want to tip-toe around cleaning your filter but would rather just wipe it off from time to time, then this is worth the extra cost. The surface is extremely scratch resistant, I have treated mine fairly poorly at times when cleaning while out shooting, but you would never know it from the filter itself. I am impressed by its robustness! The brass ring is also superb. I will pass these filters down to my children and grandchildren, and they will still be in perfect condition.

It is a different three-dot system with the front sight being a bright yellow if light, and just three tritium dots at night. This is about the only sites I can wear now that I require reading glasses. The sights are very sturdy and for a Walther PPQ they are easy to install. I have the orange version on another PPQ and B&H was the only place I could find the yellow front sight and at a reasonable price. In my opinion the yellow is easier to pick up then the orange version front sight. I now want a yellow for my other PPQ, but Trijicon will not just sell the front sight. This is no fault of B&H and I may be buying a complete other set in yellow just to get the front, which is the easiest to pick up in all lighting situations then any other sight I have seen. I first thought the small non colored rear would be a problem, but it just makes it less confusing. Jim

[0.24 lb] Nice filter between standard yellow and orange. Being used on a Leica MM246 (monochrom) that produces only black & white images. Helps to stop down the MM246 that has a base ISO = 320. 77mm size is versatile when used with step up rings.

[22 x 21 x 0.02"] I have any amber gel by every manufacturer and this is the only one you can get which is a true amber color. Meaning, not yellow, not orange, not red, not brown, but true Amber, also known as the color of honey.

[Glass] An orange or darker yellow filter might be slightly better for cloud photos, but thats nothing a little touch up in post cant fix. Beautiful!

[Handheld Only] Not much to say about it. Securely holds a dozen. Bright so easy to see in a bag. I now have orange ones for my rechargeable batteries and yellow ones for my alkaline batteries.
